Where there is a will , there is a way
`If there's a will, there's a way' is one motto I would like to make my own. The saying means that if anyone was determined enough to get something done, that person would always find a way to do it. . In other words nothing is impossible in this world provided it is backed by a strong will, constant efforts and unshakable faith. I believe that determination is the fighting spirit of a person. Without determination, a person would tend to give up too easily in getting what she or he wants. Man is different from other living beings. His desires are innumerable and ever increasing. He undertakes a number of activities in order to satisfy his desires. But in our practical life we see that all our desires are not fulfilled . A close examination will reveal that we did not make sustained efforts to fulfil those wishes .If a student is lack of determination for his examination, he cannot get the higher education .This motto is also true for the students .They say that matriculation exam is not easy at all .But the reason why some students fail in the examination is not that the examinations are difficult to pass. In fact they do not possess the determination and work hard for their objectives. A student can get the distinctions if he has a strong desire to do so. And I also have a constant desire for my coming matriculation exam. I study my lessons and homework regularly, attend my classes punctually and do the exercises in my free-time .I have my own will and I have to pass my exam with high marks by following the teaching of this motto. Moreover there are countless examples in history to show how a strong will enabled persons to achieve the objectives they had set. Abraham Lincoln rose to the position of the President of the U.S.A. by his sustained efforts and strong determination. Tenzing was born in a poor family but he had a…...

...Technology in Banking Insight and Foresight Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (Established by Reserve Bank of India) Foreword The Indian banking industry, almost in keeping with the deep entrepreneurial approach of the country s business, has come a long way. This report is an effort to capture some exemplary initiatives and developments so far as well as discuss the emerging trends. The insights and understanding of the technology trends and ground-level work being done by the banks has been culled from the nominations received from banks for the IDRBT Banking Technology Excellence Awards 2010. The transformation of Indian banks in the last decade has been phenomenal from local branch banking to global presence and anywhere-anytime banking. Most of the regular banking transactions can today be carried out from mobile phones. Sustained reforms and information technology (IT) have played a pivotal role since the initiation of the second phase of reforms post 1998. The benefits of technology such as scale, speed and low error rate are also reflecting in the performance, productivity and profitability of banks, which have improved tremendously in the past decade. Regulatory initiatives from the Central Bank have also played a large role in the banking sector. Robust technology-enabled organizations have now become the mainstay of the industry. Initiatives such as electronic clearing service (ECS), national electronic funds transfer (NEFT),......

Where Oh Where Is the Rain??

...Where Oh Where is the Rain?? The drought of 2012 has grown to epic, never before seen size proportions, and is taking its toll on whole lot of people all over the country. Is their relief in sight? Not in the next few months, experts are saying. The drought of 2012 has caused many problems for our farmers, scorched millions of acres of forest and grasslands, and has President Obama scrambling to get relief to those in need. Just how big is this drought we are experiencing? According to the U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM), it’s the largest drought ever recorded in their 13 years they have been monitoring drought conditions. According to the USDM, 62.9 percent of the contiguous U.S. was experiencing moderate to exceptional drought at the end of July. This is an increase of about 6.9 percent compared to the end of June. The maximum value of 63.9 percent reached on July 24, 2012 is the current record holding mark in the 13 year history of the USDM. The percent area of the country in the worst drought categories (extreme to exceptional drought) doubled, from 10 percent last month to 22 percent this month. The other major drought monitoring index is the Palmer Drought Severity Index. This index has been tracking drought conditions for all of the 20th century, much longer than the USDM. The Palmer Drought Severity Index states that about 57 percent of the contiguous U.S. was experiencing moderate-to-extreme drought. The last time drought was this extensive was way back in......

...Feminism can be roughly defined as a movement that seeks to enhance the quality of women’s lives by impacting the norms and moves of a society based on male dominance and subsequent female subordination. The means of change in the work place, politically, and domestically. Women have come a long way since the 19th century. Women have been trying to prove to the male dominant world that they are equal. They can perform and complete any tasks equal, or in some cases better than man. Feminism has changed the definition of men in many ways. Women in the work place have transposed dramatically since the 19th and mid 20th century. Even if women had any education in the 19th century they were not allow to manifest any of it. It just was not proper for women to give any signs of intelligence and a brain of their own. They were to prepare themselves to become wives and mothers, which were the extent of their entire lives. In the early and mid 20th century some women were starting to be brave and take a stand for themselves. The beginnings of feminism were starting to take its massive role in society. More and more women were getting educated and looking for employment opportunities that had power. Men no longer can be in control of everything. Men in the work place started to feel impotent. But women fed off each other and gave each other strength. They were not looking for just the secretarial jobs; they were taking some men’s jobs and being good at it. They were becoming police......

Where to Live

...Where will you live? Most everyone will ask that question at some-point in his or her life. Will it be the urban life of the big city, filled with its tall buildings, loud neighborhoods, busy streets, and never-ending projects? It might be that that is more than one might want if that is the case, there is the serenity of the suburbs, which offer spacious housing, peaceful surroundings, fresh air, and plenty of nature. Both urban and suburban areas offer people different choices in lifestyles, from the houses and communities they live in, to the noise and activities around them. The cost and size of housing differ greatly from the inner city's high-rise apartments or houses, to those of a spacious urban setting. On average, the cost of the dwelling of comparable size will cost more in the city than that of the suburbs. For example, to buy a 3-bedroom home that is around 1300sf in the city may cost about $148,000, while renting would be around $1,600 a month. To buy or rent a house of similar size in the suburbs will be around $100,000 to buy, and $1,000 to rent per month. 'Estimates were biased on one city and its suburbs, in one state, and will vary from state to state, and city to city. One should be aware of any additional cost that may be needed when making their decision, such as, property taxes, gas or transportation expenses, and any other bills. Size is another factor one should think about; seldom would you find a place in the city that can handle a family with......

On My Way to Learning Where the Comma Goes

...On My Way to Learning Where the Comma Goes I have always dabbled in writing but never seemed to finish a project. I love to write journals and express myself on paper because it somehow feels more real than talking to someone. As if my thoughts on paper make them more concrete and mine. There have been countless poems, and a couple very short stories. I did at one point attempt to write a novel, but the punctuation is what I would always get frustrated with and quit. I am here to attempt to stop quitting. My goals are achievable; confidence is an easy thing to come by. You just have to put in the work and learn what it is that you are missing. When it comes to writing, I tend to be a perfectionist. It has to be right, but I am not even sure what right is. My goal as a writer is to be more confident on what I have put to paper. I just really want to be a better writer, and to know that the comma I put in that spot is there for a reason. I also want to be a better communicator because there are times when I get that look from people that says “I know you are trying to say something, but I don’t know exactly what.” Communication is also extremely important in my career as an executive assistant. There are constantly letters and emails that my boss has me write, and he trusts me to sound and look competent. Our writing style and the mistakes that we make can have a negative effect on people’s impressions of us. I will admit that going back to school is scary, and at first was......

...Analyze Role Fidelity-Deidre Lewis There have been many instances where many of us have had to deal with the medical system - even with the best medical care possible can easily identify with this movie. “The Doctor” tells of a self-centered doctor who doesn’t allow his patients the pleasure of feeling like people but instead having them feel like just another the story of an aloof, self-centered heart surgeon who treats his patients like just another name on a list. The movie is centered on the doctor himself getting sick and being treated as if he doesn’t matter that he is just another dollar sign. The doctor makes it his point at all time to make it known that he is a doctor in the hospital and should be treated with much more respect than with the mediocrity of a patient. He slowly comes to terms with the fact that he may have been mistreating people for a long period of time. As the movie begins rock 'n' roll music is playing in his operating room while literally holding patients hearts in his hands. He leads life being the father of two sons and a husband to a loving wife. Dr. Hurt expresses his feeling openly when he tells his interns that personal feelings have nothing to do with science of medicine. When the tables turn he discovers that he really doesn’t feel that way. In the beginning his ailments starts as a small, persistent cough. On one occasion he begins coughing and in the end coughs up blood. He goes to an otolaryngologist and discovers......

...3 Contour integrals and Cauchy’s Theorem 3.1 Line integrals of complex functions Our goal here will be to discuss integration of complex functions f (z) = u + iv, with particular regard to analytic functions. Of course, one way to think of integration is as antidifferentiation. But there is also the definite integral. For a function f (x) of a real variable x, we have the integral b f (x) dx. In case f (x) = u(x) + iv(x) is a complex-valued function of a a real variable x, the definite integral is the complex number obtained by b integrating the real and imaginary parts of f (x) separately, i.e. b b u(x) dx + i a f (x) dx = a v(x) dx. For vector fields F = (P, Q) in the plane we have a the line integral P dx+Q dy, where C is an oriented curve. In case P and C Q are complex-valued, in which case we call P dx + Q dy a complex 1-form, we again define the line integral by integrating the real and imaginary parts separately. Next we recall the basics of line integrals in the plane: 1. The vector field F = (P, Q) is a gradient vector field g, which we can write in terms of 1-forms as P dx + Q dy = dg, if and only if C P dx+Q dy only depends on the endpoints of C, equivalently if and only if C P dx+Q dy = 0 for every closed curve C. If P dx+Q dy = dg, and C has endpoints z0 and z1 , then we have the formula dg = g(z1 ) − g(z0 ). P dx + Q dy = C C 2. If D is a plane region with oriented boundary ∂D = C, then P dx + Q dy = C D ∂Q ∂P − ∂x ∂y dxdy. 3. If D is a simply......

...the hospital every time the doctor sent her for observations. In the months leading up to my son’s birth I was there every step of the way, but I was just an observer. My wife was doing it all, nothing for me really changed. The day started out like any other induction day for millions of other parents. We arrived at the hospital bright and early, my wife filled out some paperwork, the nurses hooked up her iv, started the Pitocin drip, and her labor began. The rest of the morning, afternoon and early afternoon was a lot of waiting. Nurses and the doctor came in and out checking on my wife and the baby. My wife’s mom and sister came from our hometown to be there with us so they came and went all day. They calmed nerves and also got on some nerves. I watched all day as my wife labored on like a champ. A little after 11pm my wife’s doctor comes into the room with about 4 nurses telling us that our baby was in distress and they had to get him out now. The next few minutes were a blur as the nurses were running around, prepping my wife for a cesarean. I don’t remember much of the time from when they all came into the room to the time they wheeled her out of the birthing suite other than getting dressed in scrubs. I was so nervous and scared that my mother in law had to show me how to put them on. They rushed us off to the operating room where I had to wait outside the door while they finished prepping my wife for surgery. It was only a few minutes, but I sat out there......

Where Is the Message

...together. As the DJ began to like the music they created it became background sound to the lyrical Emcee. Everyone wanted to know what the Emcee had to say and how they would rhyme. I have noticed that the positive message in the Emcees rhyme’s and political statements that rap music started with began to deteriorate over time. It was as though hip hop went from talking about what was going on currently in a positive way, to rappers encouraging violence as promoting a negative message. Since the 1980’s to current time there has been a persistent problem of how hip-hop has changed.      Grand Master Flash’s “The Message” is a sociopolitical rap song that is truly about poverty and how inner city life was in America in 1982. The first verse speaks to the apparent struggle in his time, “Got no money to move out, I guess I got no choice”. Many people at the time, even though their surroundings were not safe, had no money to move away. Another verse from Master Flash “Rats in the front room, roaches in the back/ Junkies in the alley with the baseball bat” is a light way to show the public what is going on in some neighborhoods. In the 1980’s there was a crack epidemic. This line refers to the fact that the people addicted to crack cocaine would do anything to get their next fix, even if that meant attacking you. Further down in verses is “I can't walk through the park cause it's crazy after dark/Keep my hand on my gun cause they got me on the run. Which would mean that   he......

...Academic Essay of Where the Gods Fly Imagine permanently moving to a country where the language, the culture... everything is unfamiliar to you. This is the reality of most immigrant parents, who try to raise their children safely in a foreign country, where strong influences can strip a person of their cultural identity. This is the exact situation we are dragged into, in the short story 'Where The Gods Fly' written by Jean Kwok. Here we meet a Chinese mother's unwelcoming approach, towards her daughter's passion for the arts of ballet.  Analyse Setting and themes: The story is taking place in America. Although we are not told the name of the city the action takes place in Brooklyn. At least we can assume. Based on what we know about the author and her experience as an immigrant child. However, the name of the place is not important for the development of this particular story. Structure: The short story starts in medias res. We are thrown in the story. We don’t know what happened before. The story is not in chronological order. The short story has an interesting structure, as it begins with the ending. Contrasts: China – American The contrast between the two countries is maybe the biggest element of the story. On one side, we have China. A country in which families are extreme on respecting tradition and ancient customs. On the other side America. A country that represents the place where dreams come true, it is the country that gives everyone a......
