...Week One – DQ 1, What is the definition of marketing? What are the benefits and drawbacks of incorporating marketing into the sales function of an organization? Do you think that marketing should be included as part of the sales organization within a company? Explain why or why not.  Marketing is the foundation, direction, and/or functions an entity uses to produce a product, service, or idea and makes certain that the product, service, or idea they produce reaches consumers. There are a couple benefits and drawbacks to incorporating marketing into the sales function of an organization. The benefits of incorporating marketing into the sales function of an organization is the marketing function can decrease operating expense defining the consumer’s needs and wants which will decrease the cost. The drawbacks of incorporating marketing into the sales function of an organization deals with micro marketing and macro marketing. Being socially responsible and ethical to both, consumers and non consumers, may increase sales costs, due to production costs, and decrease sales profits (Perreault, Cannon, McCarthy, 2011). I do feel that marketing should be included as part of the sales organization within the company because services that the company provides in a marketing sales aspect can apply the analysis so that the consumers needs and wants can be analyzed. ...Accounting Week 1 homework • Chapter 1: Problem 1-1 a. Calculate the tax disadvantage to organize a U.S. business today as a corporation, as compared to a partnership, under the following conditions. Assume that all earnings will be paid out in cash dividends. Operating income (operating profit before taxes) will be $500,000 per year under either organizational form. The tax rate on corporate profits is 35% (Tc = 0.35), the average personal tax rate for the partners is also 35% (Tc=0.35), and the capital gain tax rate on dividend income is 15% (T div=0.15). b. Now recalculate the tax disadvantage using the same income, but with the maximum tax rates that existed before 2003. (These rates were 35% (Tc=0.30) on corporate profits and 38.6% (Tp=0.386) on personal investment income) Answer to A If the firm is organized as a partnership, operating income will be taxed only once, so investors will receive $500,000 x (1- 0.35) =$325,000. If the firm is organized as a corporation, operating income will be taxed once at the corporate level, leaving $500,000 x (1- 0.35) = $325,000 available for disputation to investors, and then the dividends paid out will be taxed at the investors capital gain rate. This yields net disposable income of $325,000 x (1- 0.15) = $276,250. Partners thus pay a total tax rate of 35 percent on business income, while corporate shareholders pay a combined tax rate of 44.75 percent. [1-(1-0.35)(1-0.15)] on this income, the “corporate tax wedge” in thus...

...Networking Security Fundamentals Week 1 Question 1 "Providing Security Over Data" Please respond to the following: The CIA Triad offers three security tenets that allow data owners the framework to secure data. Considering your place of employment or your home computing environment, discuss in detail the means in which each of the three tenets are addressed to mitigate risk and enhance security in your chosen environment. In my workplace, all three security tenets are strongly enforced. Our information systems are available 99.9% of the time. We have specialists on call to support all facets of the organization, so even an unplanned outage can be mitigated by flipping to a mirror, then correcting the issue in the production environment. The integrity of the information is protected by the user account controls implemented by the data administrators, who create views and profiles for each user. Additionally, network admins restrict access to the data servers themselves. The confidentiality is also protected by the user account controls. With these in place, only authorized users are able to access or modify data. The use of mobile devices to create or access data has gained worldwide appeal and has obtained critical mass. From the e-Activity, summarize the attack and describe how you would mitigate the threat.  Mobile devices are now more alluring to attackers due to the concentration of users on a small base of operating systems. For example, prior to the launch of......

Provide a brief explanation with each example. Refer to Ch. 1 in the text for explanations of these dimensions. Physical health: Exercise at least five days a week. I take to account failures and successes of my past missions and use it for the current one. I also take in to account other people’s failures and successes. Environmental health: I try to surround myself with people I can learn from. Week 1 Assignment 1

...Week 1 Assignment 1 Michael Conley ITT Technical Institute Abstract This paper will be identifying, analyzing, and explaining five likely threat/vulnerabilities for the scenario given. I will go into detail on what you should do to lower the risk or vulnerability. The last thing I will talk about in this paper is what you should do to try and make it better and more secure. There are definitely some potential risks and vulnerabilities with the given scenario. The first one to point out would be that they are using Windows Vista. Another issue is the VPN connection with the laptops. Issue number three would be the servers. The fourth problem I foresee is back up. The final problem I see in the network is with the ISP. This is not a very old and outdated OS, since Microsoft is still supporting it, but there are more vulnerabilities with using Vista as opposed to Windows 7. Windows 7 is also more versatile, it is able to be run on more than just desktops unlike Vista. Windows 7 is able to be used on laptops, desktops, and netbooks which Vista cannot be used on all of those. Windows 7 puts all of the security notifications and other system problems in one place unlike Vista where you have to search through the control panel to find things. Windows 7 you just go to the action center. The likelihood of there being a serious security issue with windows Vista is low for right now.......

...Terrell Franklin Grantham University GS102 Week 1 02/03/2014 Properties Of Life The Properties Of Life The definition of life from what I learned is, that a living organism on Earth is an entity containing protein and/or nucleic acid, that imposes its form and function on another entity inorder to convert that entity into its own form and function, and does so in order to persist and reproduce itself. In this paper I will discuss the nine properties and how things like a virus, prion, and viroid can reproduce, but are not considered to be alive. Also how things like these that are not considered to be alive can “evolve”? Viruses reproduce via bacterial gene transfer. Prions are proteins so they replicate with the rest of the genome. Viroids are small RNA plant pathogens that do not code any protein products, therefore replicate by stealing what is needed from the host. However, it may be important to keep in mind that there is a great deal of discussion about whether viruses should be defined as live or not. They contain some of the structures and exhibit some of the activities that are common to the definition of organic life, but are missing others. Unlike viroids and prions, they contain both RNA and DNA. Scientifically they are classified in a place between supra molecular complexes and extremely simple biological entities. Viruses are composed of a single strand of genetic information encapsulated in protein. One of the most compelling arguments against......

Week 1 Dq 1

...Week 1 DQ 1 Why is it important that financial accounting systems report performance fairly and factually? Financial accounting systems are responsible for recording, monitoring and maintaining all financial and accounting transactions within an organization. It is crucial that financial accounting systems report performance fairly and factually because the information within the system is required for the organization to make good economic decisions that could make or break the entire business. The reports that are created by financial accounting systems are used to provide information to outside parties such as tax experts, creditors, and/or potential investors. Inaccurate financial reports can lead an organization to experience legal issues, financial fraud, and can cause a bad reputation for the overall organization. In order to maintain and grow a profitable business, organizations must rely on fair and factual financial reports. Financial accounting systems must also report performance fairly and factually to ensure that the organization is performing and operating properly. An inaccurate financial report, for example, can cause an organization to make an economic decision that the organization may not be able to afford to do. In a health care organization, financial reports must also be accurate to avoid errors in medical billing that can lead the organization to lawsuits and major financial losses. Financial reports that are not created fairly and......
