After doing my research, I came across a company called Rosemont who merged with Emerson Company back in 1976. It has locations all across the globe and is in almost every county that that we have. The culture here is the most mixed that I have ever seen or even heard of. Every race from African American, Chinese, Caucasian, Japanese, Somali and quite a bit more across the board.

Rosemount Engineering Company was founded in 1956 as a supplier of precision products for the aerospace industry. The company quickly grew with the success and expansion of the U.S. space program and continued to apply the same rigid standards that aided NASA’s success to the development of breakthrough products for the process industries.

After reading about it, I tried to picture what it would look like to work there and I stepped outside of myself and looked into the roof of the building and saw what looked like an ant farm. Hundreds of people that have a hard time understanding each other's words, but work together marvelously. Their commitment to the culture is reflected in a dedication to their work environment and company values.

As for culture, they strive to provide every employee with the kind of work environment that will allow them to thrive and be very successful. The way that they do this is using mutual respect, open communication, and having the willingness to listen and change things for the better. You can see this in their policies and practives and hear it from their leaders. They offer a culture that values every employee's contribution and provides everyone with the opportunity to build and demonstrate their own capabilities.

In 1976 they set in motion a plan to build the world’s largest instrumentation and control system company through internal research and development efforts and strategic acquisitions. Rosemount technologies became a cornerstone of this strategy. Today, Rosemount expertise and best-in-class technologies from Emerson Process Management play a key role in Emerson’s combining of superior products and technology with industry-specific engineering, consulting, project management and maintenance services.

The basis for the success of Rosemount products is their commitment to product quality and reliability in the most demanding industry environments. Their ultimate proving ground is the global customers that they serve. They believe in continuous improvement as a way of life; this ensures that their marketing leadership in terms of technology, people, and value. They continually strive to meet and exceed their customers’ requirements as a global company.

Talking about them being global, it is not just about where they build and distribute their products; it is about the people who work there. Their employees, from countries around the globe, come together every day to share their diverse cultural backgrounds and innovative ideas and approaches, all in an effort to meet the needs of their customers. Without people working to deliver valued solutions to their customers, their technology would not reach its full potential.

They are comprised of forward-thinking technology experts that are capable of creating integrated solutions that best address the needs of their customers. They are able to anticipate global trends and continue to win business as a result of their outstanding management and planning process.

Not only do they excel at serving their customers, but they also excel at serving their employees. They recognize and reward the talents and commitments of their employees and provide new members of their team with the opportunity to learn from the best managers and engineers in their respective industries. They also place a strong focus on career development and offer employees a variety of development paths that enable them to quickly contribute to company goals.

They take pride in the people who make up their team. Everyone from senior management officers to their line production workers. I actually spoke with one of the line production workers and will be posting the interview results within. Emerson looks to conduct their business in a way that demonstrates uncompromising ethical standards with customers, suppliers, governments, the public and amongst themselves.

They worked hard to create a workplace that is global and supports diversity, embraces inclusion and cultivates much respect for the individual. They believe that bringing together bright and enthusiastic people from various backgrounds promotes the birth of new great ideas and a very exciting energy level. They have an active program that recruits and hires minorities to their management ranks.

Their equal opportunity employment policy makes sure that there will be no discrimination or harassment against an employee or applicant on the grounds of race, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, disability, veteran status or other factor that is considered unlawful by any applicable laws or regulations.

This company has a very strong backbone and proves that working as a mixed culture together all under one roof is not only possible, but has amazing affects if done properly.

When interviewing my tech, I had a list of questions that I wanted to ask him and we went through them one at a time with really no hassle at all. I had a hard time understanding some of the things that he was saying to me, but he was very patient as I repeated "What" over and over again. I was more embarrassed than he was for certain.

I asked him how he handled the cultural differences at Emerson and what he told me was described better like this. He needed to understand and respect individual differences. He always kept an open mind toward others who were different then he was and remembered that not everyone sees things the same way as he did. He said he had to learn to be assertive and let others know how he wanted to be treated and to not be afraid to speak up if someone is doing something that he didn't agree with.

How will people know if he found something that he did offensive? He said he needed to learn how others wanted to be treated by him. Treat others the same way that you want to be treated. (I believe that I have read that somewhere before). If he thought he was doing everything properly and someone had the courage and sensitivity to tell him that he offended them, not to get upset but to appreciate that they came forward and be thankful. The only way that he can correct a situation is by being honest with one another and having honest communication.

If a person is confused about how to pronounce his name, or whether a person would rather be called black or African American. Asking question will not only help him learn how to avoid misunderstandings and conflict but also will communicate a respect that will strengthen his relationships. He had to start acting as a force and not as a doormat. Everyone is responsible for workplace behavior. If you encounter and example of discrimination or prejudice, speak up. Tell the people involved why you think- the behavior was inappropriate. You may not be able to change attitudes overnight, but you can change behavior, and that's the first step

The questions that I would like to ask in the interview are

1) How does the tech handle cultural differences there?

2) Does he have any issues with communication?

3) Has working with this many cultures caused any issues?

4) Do cultural differences have any impact on his job?

5) How will he try to adapt in this new culture
