"Clustering" was the prewriting technique that I used to generate ideas and to also help visualize how the ideas might logically relate. As clustering help generate some ideas, it also gave me a sense of organization. Clustering was very beneficial with this week assignment because it allowed me to see how the various facts and ideas might be logically related.

On the surface, my brother and I are very identical, yet we have our own distinctive personalities. At times we may have similar connections, but at the end of the day we are each our own individual (or you could use person) own individual .

A few weeks later, I was playing football after school and got tackled down to the ground, where I and landed and injured my left arm. I was taken to the hospital and after a check-up; , Doctors doctors found that I had broken my left arm. Twin Deficit

...Twin Deficit For the past 2 years, India has been fighting slow growth, high inflation and the twin deficits – fiscal deficit and current account deficit. The current account deficit reached the peak of 5.3% of GDP in Q1 FY13 which is much beyond the comfort zone of 3%. The fiscal deficit has also proved difficult to control, leading to a large part of borrowing going into servicing the debt rather than towards capital intensive activities. Off late the threat of being relegated to the status of junk bonds has made the government to swing into action and try and take steps to curb the deficits. It is the result of these measures that the fiscal deficit is not expected to go much beyond the government target of 5.3% of GDP. As a part of its efforts, government has also come up with the target of reducing the fiscal deficit to 3% of GDP by 2016-17. In order to rein in on the fiscal deficit, under the direction of Finance Minister, government managed to cut expenditures to the tune of Rs.80000 crores. Besides this, unlike previous years government has managed to keep its stake selling program on track, which is expected to result in the revenue receipts of about Rs.30000 crores. However, the government has also been cutting corners and using financial jugglery to cuts the deficit. Transferring the subsidy payment bills onto the next year and one time receipts from stake sale in PSUs are not effective and long term solution. Apart from this, losses like those of State......

Brother

...Good morning! Brotherhood is the state or relationship of being brothers, fellowship, and or the association of men. From the time I began attending Frederick Douglass I have fully experienced the love of a brotherhood. When I came to Fredrick Douglass in my tenth grade, brotherhood was the last thing on my mind. I couldn’t imagine attending an all male academy and being able to be comfortable and successful in an environment without girls. I was young in mind and had girls on the brain. I had in my head that this wasn’t the place for me. But when I began to give my future more serious thought and consideration, I came to the conclusion that girls aren’t everything, and that education is the main key to having a successful future. In my head, I sounded like a parent talking to my self, or some of my peers. That’s when I knew I was on the verge of major growth, because I was actually having a mature conversation with myself. With each year from the 10th, through 12th grade, I’ve experienced the transformation from a boy to man. What was amazing was that this transformation was not just happening within me, but with my Frederick Douglass brothers as well. My older brothers, once told me that we’ve experienced many ups and downs. We’ve experienced success, and some failures. But whatever we’ve had to endure, we’ve remained family and a kept our strong brotherhood. So I say to you as we move forward, my brothers, which we need to keep the bond that many of us have had......

Mario Testino's Twins

...photograph by Mario Testino there are two heavier set Latin twins standing in the middle of the picture with an arm wrapped around the other and biggest of smiles upon their faces. Both of the men are wearing shorts, one of the men has flip flops on and the other is barefoot. They appear to have just gotten out of the water somewhere by the way the sand is sticking to them. In the background there is a construction truck, which would make most observers think that they were in some sort of construction area. However no construction worker would be barefoot or in sandals in a work zone, considering that could be extremely hazardous. Although the men in the picture are twins and both have huge smiles upon their faces you can tell that each of them have very different personalities by the way their smiles differentiate. The twin on the right with a more open mouthed smile almost as if he’s shouting “Hey!” or something similar, and the other on the left with a more goofy smile, face constricted, almost like he’s laughing at his brother. In the second photograph there are two beautiful twin girls that look like models wearing almost identical outfits. One of the twins is wearing a dress that splits mid-thigh she also has her hair pulled back with a black fitted cap on top. The other twin is wearing a similar dress that cuts off mid-thigh with black loosely fitted pants underneath, she is not wearing a cap unlike her twin, or perhaps she is and is already wearing a wig on top of......

Twin Study

...Summary This article discusses about twins separated and the genetic of personality differences and concentrated on studies that have been made in 1979 by the Minnesota Study of Twins Reared Apart ( MISTRA). In the research, the researcher focused on two aspects of cognitive and personality. However, in this article the discussion limited to discuss about the personality and behavioral differences only. The study conducted by Minnesota is to support the existence of an important genetic component in behavioral and personality differences. According to the author, the study has been done by MISTRA are biased toward the sample, based on Newman et al. and Shields studies, MISTRA twins were discovered on the basis of similarity and their knowledge of each other's existence. Also, Minnesota study also lack of case histories and the failure to share data. The reports of Newman et al., Shields, and Juel-Nielsen contained hundreds of pages of detailed case histories of twins, which helped independent observers to draw their own conclusions from the data. Although most of the earlier researchers were viewing twins through a hereditary lens, their descriptions provided a wealth of information. In this study, they are used several type of method, one of the technique is used two or more test instrument to ensure the adequate coverage, for example the participants were given a battery of personality and mental ability tests, interest and value......

The Twin Paradox for Dummies

...elastic string which can only be stretched in one direction namely; into the future. The twin paradox describes what happens. Twins; One boards a spacecraft that accelerates to near light speed, on say a voyage to Alpha Centauri, some four light years from earth. The other remains on the home planet. Ten years later the bother who went to Alpha Centauri returns having aged only "one subjective year" because time has moved slower for him, "relative" to his brother who remained on the home planet, where time moved at the "normal rate" Why and how did this ageing difference happen?, why has the spaceman one brother become twenty years younger than his brother who remained at home? or the reverse if you like! There is no absolute time, time moves differently from one object to the next and in one location to the next according to its "gravity mass and density" Condense the matter on a object, into smaller and "smaller volume" and you alter gravity and the flow of time on its surface. This is the reason that time stops in a black hole of infinite density Note; this will really happen if we develop near light speed space vehicles A year of subjective time has passed for the twin on the spaceship, when compared to twenty year older brother who has somehow aged at a 1/20 ratio. The brother who remained at home is a grey haited old man of say 65 and his returning brother just one year older at 26 years of age An enigmatic paradox but absolutely......

Twin Towers

...Heroism in the Twin Towers | | | 1) One reason as to why some people act heroically in emergencies while others do not is based on the fact that heroic people possess positive morals and traits (Johnson, 2012). Furthermore, those people that possess positive morals and traits make good choices and will respond to a situation immediately (Johnson, 2012). In the case study, Heroism in the Twin Towers, the rescuers displayed positive morals and traits by using crowbars to break through drywall and opening stairway doors in order to reach out and help the victims escape being fully aware that at any given moment they could have injured themselves in the process (Johnson, 2012). Another reason as to why some people act heroically in emergencies while others do not is based on the fact that heroic people have a high moral identity where moral principles and character traits are the core of their being (Johnson, 2012). Furthermore, people with a high moral identity have a positive approach to life as well as a strong desire to do the right thing demonstrating will power and integrity to help others in need (Johnson, 2012). In the case study, Heroism in the Twin Towers, the rescuers displayed the most notable case of a high moral identity as they were willing to sacrifice their life so that the victims can live (Johnson, 2012). 2) The type of characteristic traits that the rescuers demonstrated in rescuing the victims from the Twin Tower attacks were courage,......

Response to "To My Brother"

...Response to “To My Brother Miguel (in memoriam)” Of all the texts in the book of readings, this particular poem remained in my thoughts for a long time. It’s an emotional piece; the writer clearly delivered a lot of heavy feelings within it. Whether or not the poem is based on real life experience by the poet is irrelevant to my comprehension of the piece’s emotional message and eulogy to a long since dead family member. Throughout the piece he contrasts himself by both writing in the voice of a child and an ironic, slightly world-weary adult. The innocence of his childhood voice and memories, countered with the lingering sadness of his adult one gave me pause to think about the range of voice being brought to the table. The piece lacks a distinct sense of rage at the narrator’s loss of his brother. This made me highly intrigued as to what the poem would feel like if it was filled with rage or even regret. And while the narrator lingers on past memories, he certainly doesn’t regret the time he spends dwelling over them. The largest voice missing from the poem was that of the dead brother himself. I entertained the thought of writing an opposing poem from the point of view of the dead brother, in the same style as the original piece, while he laments over the fact that his brother won’t let his memories pass on. But I thought that that piece would lack the anger and regret that I felt was missing from the original piece. So I instead made the brother a slightly......

Nature vs Nurture in Twins

...vs. Nurture in Twins Stephanie A Anderson Western Governors University WGU Student ID# 000257288 Nature vs. Nurture in Twins Many studies are being done on twins and the difference between genetics vs. environment. Many studies are done on monozygotic twins as well as dizygotic twins. Monozygotic (MZ) twins are known as identical twins because they are from one egg that is fertilized and splits into two genetically identical halves, which continue to grow as twins. If there are any additional splitting of the zygote it leads to triplets, quadruplets etc. In Dizygotic (DZ) twins, also known as fraternal twins, there are two eggs that are fertilized by two different sperm, essentially making two babies at once that are genetically different but similar like other siblings. (Wheelwright, 2004) There are many differences between identical twins and fraternal twins such as fraternal twins can be of opposite sex. It is very rare for identical twins to be different sexes since they are split from the same zygote. (Wheelwright, 2004) Identical twins share 100% of their genetics and fraternal twins about 50%. (Horwitz, Videon, Schmitz, Davis, 2003) Identical twins do have the same DNA and the same fingerprints. Although there are now genetic tests that can find minor differences in the DNA of identical twins, they are still considered genetically identical. (Wheelwright, 2004) With all the studies that have been done over the years with sets of twins, they are......

Evil Twin

...Evil Twin Wi-Fi Attacks NT1110: Computer Structure and Logic October 23, 2013 Abstract What is the “Evil Twin”? Evil Twin is a type of Wi-Fi attack, it is a home-made wireless access point that masquerades as a legitimate hot spot with a very strong signal in efforts to gather personal or corporate information. With this, the overall goal of this report is to educate the public on how to protect themselves. Additionally in this disadvantages and advantages will be discussed along with the effects on consumers and the future. According to Dr. Phil Nobles, a wireless Internet and cybercrime expert at Cranfield University, said: this is how the evil twin works. "So-called 'evil twin' hotspots present a hidden danger for Web users. In essence, users think they've logged on to a wireless hotspot connection when in fact they've been tricked to connect to the attacker's unauthorized base station. The latter jams the connection to a legitimate base station by sending a stronger signal within close proximity to the wireless client -- thereby turning itself into an 'evil twin. Cybercriminals don't have to be that clever to carry out such an attack. Because wireless networks are based on radio signals they can be easily detected by unauthorized users tuning into the same frequency." The Disadvantage of Evil Twins The Evil Twins a Menace to Wireless Security > Mobile, (by Jack M German Tech News World 06/04/09). Once the......

Wright Brothers

...Introduction: The Wright brothers, Orville (August 19, 1871 – January 30, 1948) and Wilbur (April 16, 1867 – May 30, 1912), were two Americans who are generally credited with inventing and building the world's first successful airplane and making the first controlled, powered and sustained heavier-than-air human flight, on December 17, 1903. In the two years afterward, the brothers developed their flying machine into the first practical fixed-wing aircraft. Although not the first to build and fly experimental aircraft, the Wright brothers were the first to invent aircraft controls that made fixed-wing powered flight possible Wilber Wright: Birth date and birthplace: April 16, 1867(1867-04-16)Millville, Indiana Orville Wright: Birth date and Birthplace: August 19, 1871(1871-08-19)Dayton, Ohio Family Life: The Wright brothers were two of seven children born to Milton Wright (1828–1917) and Susan Catherine Koerner (1831–1889). Wilbur Wright was born near Millville, Indiana in 1867; Orville in Dayton, Ohio in 1871. The brothers never married. The other Wright siblings were named Reuchlin (1861–1920), Lorin (1862–1939), Katharine (1874–1929), and twins Otis and Ida (born 1870, died in infancy). In elementary school, Orville was given to mischief and was once expelled. In 1878 their father, who traveled often as a bishop in the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, brought home a toy "helicopter" for his two younger sons. The device was based on an invention...

Big Brother

... That Big Brother Being a big brother has almost the same roles and responsibilities as a parent. Being a big brother requires a strong act of generosity. Being generous is freely sharing and providing more than enough of what is needed. Unfortunately, I was born a selfish person, but had to learn how to be a big brother. Being big a big brother has its pros and cons. A good thing about being a big brother to two younger siblings, there will always be someone else to blame. My younger brother and baby sister has always looked to me as some kind of role model. They know I’d never lead them in a wrong direction, unless it is any kind of trouble around the house. If I do anything wrong at home, I am quick to point the finger their way. If they do anything wrong I try to punish them myself, and if that doesn’t work I simply rat them out. Other than trouble, it is nice to have someone waiting to discuss there problems with when they are afraid to talk to any elders, or authority. We trust each other with our lowest secrets. It is nice, sometimes, having younger replicas of myself to tag along when I go places. I am often asked if my younger brother is my twin, and if my younger sister is my daughter. With every good, of course there will be some bad to follow. Younger siblings are annoying at times. When I want to be alone, there’s no escaping there presence. I’d be in my room venting to myself and they both enter, interrupt whatever I’m doing and turn on movies, I guess I’m......

Twins

...There are two different types of twins: Dizygotic= fraternal or non-identical Monozygotic= identical Fraternal twins happen when two separate eggs are released at a single ovulation and are fertilized by two different sperm. These two fertilized eggs then implant independently in the uterus. Fraternal twins share the same type of genetic relationship as non-twin siblings. These are also the most common form of twins; a reason for having fraternal twins is the age of the mother at conception. The chance of fraternal twins is more prevalent in women 35 years of age and older. And yet another growing cause of fraternal twins is the use of fertility treatments. Identical twins develop when one egg is fertilized by a single sperm and during the first two weeks after conception, the developing embryo splits into two. As a result, two, genetically identical babies develop. The exact reason why identical twins happen is still a mystery. Over the years there has been a lot of research and time invested into finding out why some zygotes split into two and others don’t. But the truth is we still do not know why. In reality, the splitting of one fertilised egg is a malformation of the natural processes of conception. Twins are very valuable to scientific research because they allow researchers to study the relative importance of environmental and genetic influences on people. In other words, how much of someone's personality and appearance is based on their environment and how...

Twins

...Growing up I always thought of myself as an individual, as well as an identical twin and it was strange to me that other people didn't see this as well. For myself and my twin sister Jenna, people not bothering to, or not being able to distinguish between them is likely to reinforce our thoughts that it was normal for us to me seen as one, rather than two individuals. I’ve always thought of myself as a lucky. Because of my sister, I was never alone growing up. The most fun part is probably just having a companion you can count on. However, the most challenging part is the feeling that everything is a shared life experience which is heavily influenced by family, friends and the people around us who perceives us to be the same person and one identity, while in fact we are very different. The constant comparison we had to deal with, especially in out childhood caused major difficulties for me and my sister. Some people including our family; began labelling us and making comments such as "she's the pretty one" or "smart one" or "she's the bad one". These generalisations were very damaging to us while we were growing up; we began to receive unrealistic expectations to the way we were supposed to be according to others. Sometimes we even started to resent one another, which almost damaged our relationship. While we were growing up we were often called "the twins" and I guess at the time I didn't really mind. Looking back, it was because people didn't see us properly as......

He pointed out that Sharon’s first choice was a new supplier to Visionex and there was some risk involved with that choice. Ben indicated that it would please him greatly if she selected Micron for the contract. The next day Sharon was having lunch with another buyer, Mark Smith. She mentioned the conversation with Ben and said she honestly felt that Apex was the best choice. When LUC asked Sharon who Ben preferred, she answered Micron. At that point Mark rolled his eyes and shook his head. Sharon asked what the body language was all about. Mark replied, “Look, I know you’re new but you should know this. I heard last week that Ben’s brother-in-law is a new part owner of Micron. I was wondering how soon it would be before he started steering business to that company. He is not the straightest character.” Sharon was shocked. After a few moments, she announced that her original choice was still the best selection. At that point Mark reminded Sharon that she was replacing a terminated buyer who did not go along with one of Ben’s previous preferred suppliers. Assignment 1.
