The Reflection of Two Leadership Styles

Abstract
I will talk about followership and leadership connections with two persons that I work with. These people were chosen based on their leadership skills and abilities. Also, I have mutually admiration for both of them. Lastly, I preferred these two because they inspire me, and have pushed for me to go further in my career. In this paper I will talk about their leadership styles. I will also touch on the leadership characteristics in which makes them successful leaders.

The Reflection of Two Leadership Styles In order to be a leader, one must understand the meaning of leadership. My belief is that each person must include their personal description of what a leader must be. I have worked with two forceful leaders for two years. One is a Captain in the United States Army, and a supervisor at the Atlanta Va. The second person is a staff nurse at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. I chose these two because each day they define true leadership skills, and abilities. They are exceedingly valuable leaders whom have the ability to lead in tough situations. My admiration for them speaks volumes. Not only do they lead in rough situations, but they also manage in tough situations. Jason Boltax, (2010) effective leaders possess purpose, courage, and trust in the face of uncertainty. There are times when management will drop the ball on leadership. However, these two individuals believe in the staff, and the betterment of our future. Followers need from their leaders three basic qualities: direction, trust, and hope (Boltax, 2010). Followership is the capability to efficiently follow the directives and support the efforts of a leader to maximize the organization (Bjudstad, 2006). ...My leadership style is that of a consensus leader. I have been fortunate over my career to work with people with whom I have shared a desire to reach common goals. In order to be an effective consensus leader it is imperative that there is a strong foundation of communication among the group. My background and varied experiences in public relations prior to my switch to pharmacy have given me several tools which I use regularly to help encourage group discussion and communication before problems arise.
