Phillip Jack "Phil" Brooks[1] (born October 26, 1978),[4] better known by his ring name CM Punk, is an American professional wrestler signed to WWE. He is titled in the company as "the longest-reigning WWE Champion of the modern era", having held the title for 434 days from November 20, 2011 to January 27, 2013. Punk is officially recognized as the sixth-longest reigning champion of all time.

In professional wrestling, Punk is a seven-time World Champion, having held the ROH World Championship and ECW Championship once each, WWE's World Heavyweight Championship three times, and the WWE Championship twice. He won the World Tag Team Championship (with Kofi Kingston) and the WWE Intercontinental Championship, making him the 19th WWE Triple Crown Champion and the fastest man in WWE history to achieve this feat, in 203 days.[11] Between WWE and Ring of Honor (where he is a two-time World Tag Team Champion), Punk has won a total of 11 championships. He won the 2008 and 2009 Money in the Bank ladder matches (the only wrestler to win the match twice[12]) and the 2011 Superstar of the Year Slammy Award

Punk initially came to prominence through his career on the professional wrestling independent circuit, primarily as a member of the ROH roster. There, he was the first head trainer of the ROH wrestling school. Also while competing in ROH, Punk won both the company's championships. In 2005, Punk signed a contract with WWE and was sent to its developmental promotion, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), where he won every championship available in that promotion. On June 24, 2006, Punk made his WWE television debut, performing in ECW, which was then a branch of WWE. Throughout his career, Punk has consistently used the gimmick of being an outspoken, sharp-tongued, and straight edge iconoclast. Punk's straight edge principles when in character are based on his actual way of life…...

Summer

...It was the first day of summer and I was so excited I got to relax until 10:00am. I was woken up by a delicious smell I wasn’t quite sure what it was but it smelled extremely good. “Are you awake?” mom asked. I replied loudly, “Yes mother.” She told me to hurry down because we needed to discuss something. So I gotten up showered, comb my hair, put my clothes on and headed down the stairs. “Morning mom,” I said. Mom was down here all alone cooking breakfast Pancakes, eggs, grits, and sausage. “Yummy,” I said. Everything looked so good because mom always cooked everything she made from scratch. So I got me a small portion of the breakfast and sat at the table. Mom came along and joined me. She explained to me that I’ll be staying with my dad this summer because she have an important job she had to attend. I wasn’t excited about this because I thought this summer was going to be the summer that mom and I was going to be able to spend time together. I had to be understanding because mom was a travel nurse and when hospitals are short of employers they call people like her to come out to work. So she told me after breakfast pack my clothing she was taking me to the airport my plane leave at 4:00pm. Dad stays in Miami, Florida so I had to pack clothing for that type of weather; which it’s always sunny down that way. So I packed all my shorts, tank top shirts, bathing suits, and sandals. Thirty minutes later “Are you ready?” mom called. I wasn’t ready to leave her but I guess......

Summer

...the summer was hot From an astronomical view, the equinoxes and solstices would be the middle of the respective seasons,[1][2] but a variable seasonal lag means that the meteorological start of the season, which is based on average temperature patterns, occurs several weeks later than the start of the astronomical season.[3] According to meteorologists[4][5],summer extends for the whole months of June, July, and August in the northern hemisphere and the whole months of December, January, and February in the southern hemisphere. Under meteorological definitions, all seasons are arbitrarily set to start at the beginning of a calendar month and end at the end of a month.[6] This meteorological definition of summer also aligns with the commonly viewed notion of summer as the season with the longest (and warmest) days of the year, in which daylight predominates. The meteorological reckoning of seasons is used in Austria, Denmark and the former USSR; it is also used by many in the United Kingdom, where summer is thought of as extending from mid-May to mid-August. In Ireland, the summer months according to the national meteorological service, Met Éireann, are June, July and August. However, according to the Irish Calendar summer begins 1 May and ends 1 August. School textbooks in Ireland follow the cultural norm of summer commencing on 1 May rather than the meteorological definition of 1 June. From the astronomical perspective, days continue to lengthen from equinox to solstice......

Summer

...My perfect summer I never imagined a wonderful summer as the one I have spent in Logan. Global Academy 2012 gave me the opportunity to experience the most unforgettable moments of my life. Despite the cultural shock, the lonely I felt at the beginning and all de embarrassing moments I had, Logan have been the perfect place for me to grow as a person, to improve my English, to make new friends, and to become more independent. I just can describe this summer as my best summer ever, my perfect summer. My most memorable moment in Logan was the ropes course because I was doing really challenging things, things that I never thought I could do. After I achieve my goals at the ropes course and overcame all the challenging things I felt a great satisfaction and self-realization. At the beginning I was shock by American culture but as soon as I started understanding it I enjoy every single moment in Logan. I really loved my first academic track excursions. I went to a restaurant in a small town called Ogden and I tried the Mormon Muffin, it was so delicious. I also had a great time at the Independence Day celebration at Rommie Stadium, the fireworks were amazing. I had never seen so many fireworks in one night. I was so amazed and I took a lot of pictures with my camera. These experiences gave me the opportunity of talk with native speakers and improve my English skills. Shopping in Logan is one of the things I enjoyed the most; the clothes, shoes, and almost everything are so...

Comparison of the Characters in Clown Punk and Give

...signifying similar emotions and purpose being displayed. When analysed carefully, you can notice a lot of identical techniques used by the different poets. For example all three use some type of form of rhyme, half-rhymes or even rhyming couplets, this works especially well in ‘Hunchback’ for example ‘rockery […] hunchbacked in mockery’ this emphasis the point of how the character is being treated as a sham without the utter respect given; which happens to be the same sort of disrespectful and mimicry semantic field towards the other two poems as well for example in the ‘Clown punk’ ‘His dyed brain […] and let it rain’ the technique of using rhyming couplets at the very gives a more memorable and impaction ending, this give the reader a dramatic finish to reflect upon. As well there is the rhyming couplet at the very end of ‘Give’ ‘That’s big of you […] I beg of you’ this is also similar to the ending of the ‘clown punk’ but it also contains a sort of sarcastic reaction from the voice ending it on a dreary note. The tones on all poems are a similar type: bleak, monotonous and oppressive, but each carrying a different meaning, teaching and moral to the reader. The tonality of ‘The hunchback’ gives off something that sadly happens every day… The poem shows the brutality of everyday life that happens to be the truth. It displays a certain type of cruel and insulting poem focusing on one......

Cm Punk History

...CM Punk report Phillip Jack "Phil" Brooks[1] (born October 26, 1978),[4] better known by his ring name CM Punk, is an American retiredprofessional wrestler. He is currently signed to WWE, but abruptly left the company on January 27, 2014. He is titled in the company as "the longest-reigning WWE Champion of the modern era", having held the title for 434 days from November 20, 2011 to January 27, 2013. Punk is officially recognized as the sixth-longest reigning champion of all time.[10][11] In June, after pinning WWE Champion John Cena on Raw,[138] Rey Mysterio at Capitol Punishment[139]and finally Alberto Del Rio again in a contendership match (which included Mysterio) all within one week, Punk revealed his contract would expire at Money in the Bank and vowed to leave the company with theWWE Championship; some of his speeches and mannerisms echoed his final months with Ring of Honor. After making a scathing on-air speech concerning the way in which WWE is run and its owner Vince McMahon, he was given a storyline suspension from televised WWE events[140] but was reinstated the following week on Cena's insistence.[141] Upon his return, Punk ceased to appear with the remaining members of Nexus and the group quietly dissolved that month.[142] This helped transition him from a villainous character back to being afan-favorite. Two weeks later, at Money in the Bank, CM Punk defeated John Cena to become the WWE Champion on his final night under contract with WWE.[141] ...

The Summer Solstice

...THE SUMMER SOLSTICE Nick Joaquin THE MORETAS WERE spending St. John’s Day with the children’s grandfather, whose feast day it was. Doña Lupeng awoke feeling faint with the heat, a sound of screaming in her ears. In the dining room the three boys already attired in their holiday suits, were at breakfast, and came crowding around her, talking all at once. “How long you have slept, Mama!” “We thought you were never getting up!” “Do we leave at once, huh? Are we going now?” “Hush, hush I implore you! Now look: your father has a headache, and so have I. So be quiet this instant—or no one goes to Grandfather.” Though it was only seven by the clock the house was already a furnace, the windows dilating with the harsh light and the air already burning with the immense, intense fever of noon. She found the children’s nurse working in the kitchen. “And why is it you who are preparing breakfast? Where is Amada?” But without waiting for an answer she went to the backdoor and opened it, and the screaming in her ears became wild screaming in the stables across the yard. “Oh my God!” she groaned and, grasping her skirts, hurried across the yard. In the stables Entoy, the driver, apparently deaf to the screams, was hitching the pair of piebald ponies to the coach. “Not the closed coach, Entoy! The open carriage!” shouted Doña Lupeng as she came up. “But the dust, señora—“ “I know, but better to be dirty than to be boiled alive. And what ails your wife, eh?......

Summers Memo

...Summers memo was a 1991 memo on trade liberalization that was written by Lant Pritchett and signed by Lawrence Summers while he was Chief Economist of the World Bank. It included a section that both Summers and Pritchett say was sarcastic that suggested dumping toxic waste in third-world countries for perceived economic benefits [Least Developed Countries]? I can think of three reasons: 1) The measurements of the costs of health impairing pollution depends on the earnings. From this point of view a given amount of health impairing pollution should be done in the country with the lowest cost, which will be the country with the lowest wages. I think the economic logic behind dumping a load of toxic waste in the lowest wage country is impeccable and we should face up to that. 2) The costs of pollution are likely to be non-linear as the initial increments of pollution probably have very low cost. I've always thought that under-populated countries in Africa are vastly UNDER-polluted, their air quality is probably vastly inefficiently low compared to Los Angeles or Mexico City. Only the lamentable facts that so much pollution is generated by non-tradable industries (transport, electrical generation) and that the unit transport costs of solid waste are so high prevent world welfare enhancing trade in air pollution and waste. 3) The demand for a clean environment for aesthetic and health reasons is likely to have very high income elasticity. The concern over an agent that causes......

Punk Rock Compare and Contast

...Miranda Rhodes Professor Whelan English 102 Sec A October 17, 2010 1970s Punk subculture Vs. Mainstreaming of Punk Today In the 1970’s the punk subculture evolved and shocked the world. They flaunted their anti-conforming and anti-government beliefs. Punks everywhere stood their ground, and made it known to the world what they deeply believed in. In the decade since the punk revolution, they have become common in the realm of society. In comparison to the original years of the punk subculture, so many aspects of have changed to make it an ordinary part of the mainstream of society. Music has always been the soul of what defines a punk. In the beginning, the new and thriving bands were the Sex Pistols and Clash. Today, popular punk bands like Good Charlotte and Green Day have kept punk rock music popular. Nowadays, it is familiar to see woman members of punk, a punk living in the suburbs, going to college, or establishing a career. In the past, advocating for their future was not a goal for the punk community, but today that has all changed. In punk history, many of its ideologies were counterproductive and certain ideologies left punks believing they did not have any hope for a promising future. Today, some members have established positive outlooks on their futures, and this has opened the door to positive pathways for some. However, many characteristics of punk have remained consistently the same. Punks’ ever evolving music industry, their rapidly growing diverse......

The Formation and Development of Punk Rock

...Torff MU 102: The History and Development of Rock 5/6/15 The Formation and Development of Punk Rock When the word “Punk” is thrown around in conversation it usually is interpreted differently by different people. A general definition of punk rock typically associates it with extremely loud noises, unorthodox fashion style, and often offends the people who hear it. This is not necessarily all true. Yes punk rock is loud and it may offend people, but it does have a purpose and conveys its own meaning. Punk formed and developed as a reaction against oppressive figures of authority and as a musical and social outlet for teens that strayed away from the mainstream. Punk rock music has an extensive history. “While punk’s anti-authoritarian and rebellious imagery has its antecedents in both the 50s and 60s, the music itself was very much a product of its environment and decade - the 70s” (encyclopedia). The attitude of punk has been around almost twenty years before the music and the music was able to communicate the messages of athese rebellious teenagers. The roots of punk are disputed constantly. Some believe it started in U.K., while others claim it started in New York City. Regardless of where punk started it still has the same foundation anywhere in the world. John Savage brilliantly explains this concept of punk in Pre-Punk Rock: Strakhov 2 In fact, what became known as Punk during 1975 and 1976 had been floating around in various different guises in several cities......

Punk Movement

...POPMUS 305 The Punk movement as a reaction to stagnant music scene of the 70s Ivan Stevanovic 3461726 The Punk movement is often seen as a reaction to what was regarded as a blown up and stagnant, self-indulging music scene in the mid-70s. In wider perspective, it is considered not merely as a music genre, but more as a complex mixture of social, cultural, rebellious upheaval of the marginal, disillusioned young white generation, first in the US and UK and then in the rest of the western world. This essay will try to explore these statements and find out whether any of the two can be considered as the only cause for the emergence of punk. MUSIC INFLUENCES AND BACKGROUND One would say that any form of modern music in its initial phase is a protest, by default. That could be supported by numerous examples throughout the music history when rebellious young artists were crossing the boundaries of the conventional music genres and styles and often rejected from the music establishment. The stylistic music origins of punk could be found in second half of the twentieth century. First it was rock’n’roll of the fifties that shook the post war society with its wild rhythms and raw cords played on electric guitars amplified to produce more “noise”. The other influences were R&B, country and rockabilly and in the 60s many sub-genres that emerged on the rock music scene like: garage rock, frat rock, psychedelic rock, pub rock, glam rock, and proto-punk. Although its......

Summer Camps

...It is not easy for parents to make the decision to send their child away into the waiting arms of strangers who promise to take care of them — people who promise to show them the wonders of nature, fun, new skills, and friendships. As a parent of two children, even I struggle with the idea, and I have been around summer camps my entire life. The world needs the next generation to be more tolerant of each other’s views, ideology, and beliefs. Summer camp is an opportunity for children to be exposed to the best of human character. Carefully selected role models are dedicated to showing your child how to have fun, learn from others, and make friends in person rather than online. Camp allows kids to meet people from all over the world, every race, culture, and socioeconomic level. I still remember one of my counselors, Danny, from England, explaining to me, “The world is full of excuses. It doesn’t matter where you came from or what has happened to you. At the end of the day you choose how you treat others.” There is something magical about a summer camp experience. Each and every camp in the world is different. Not merely because of geography or location, but because of the traditions and people who have touched the camp. Every camp has hidden treasures of history and traditions that give it character and identity. Even with agency camps like the YMCA where there is a common mission, every camp is unique in its style, program, games, geography, traditions, and......
