The 10k vs. the Annual Report

...The 10K vs. the Annual Report eBay Inc. is one of the largest e-commerce businesses listed in the Fortune 500. Like other companies, eBay Inc. prepares an Annual Report and a 10K every year in which it discloses each activity and financial performance. eBay Inc.’s Annual Report and 10K are designed for different audiences. The Annual Report provides information about the company’s activities and financial performance for shareholders and investors. The 10K is an official document that publicly traded companies must file with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The Annual Report provides specific growth of each activity such as eBay marketplace, PayPal, and Skype to increase the confidence of its shareholders and investors. The 10K provides detailed background and financial information targeted towards business professionals and the SEC. eBay Inc.’s 2009 Annual Report was a letter with a lot of details and numbers to demonstrate the performance. The CEO, John Donahoe, listed specific activities’ revenues and growths such as “In November 2009, we sold approximately 70 percent of Skype allowing us to focus on our two core growth engines: payments and e-commerce.” Also, Mr. Donahoe compared the growth of each activity to previous years. For example, in the first half of the year, on eBay marketplace, “we delivered $8.7 billion in revenues, a 2 percent increase from the prior year.” Mr. Donahoe used sincere language to build a strong relationship with eBay......

Ps3 vs. Xbox Comparison Report

...PS3 VS. Xbox Comparison report Millions of people worldwide own game systems whether its PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 there’s always going to be some kind of conflict between the two, because they both want to be the most popular one. There are many different aspects in which people choose one or the other depending on what they are more interested in because they both have many different features. The PS3 has a built in blue-ray player which comes with free wife since day one PS3, because of its build in blue-ray player which comes with free Wi-Fi since day one. At the time when Xbox 360 were first release the company was charging $99 to its customers who wanted wireless on their Xbox 360 and $199 if customers wanted to play HD DVD which by the way are now obsolete thanks to Blue-Ray and also add the yearly fee of $50 for Xbox live it brought the total for an Xbox 360 to $647. At the time Ps3 were just $399.That was a $248 difference between the two that you would save by choosing the PS3. The quality between the two also had its ins and outs for example not only was the Xbox overpriced but it also had issues with overheating. In 2010 a survey of over 500,000 people show us that the Xbox 360 had a very high failure rate compared to the PS3. The Xbox has more number in sales, but also has many bad reviews due to the game systems console breaking down, or overheating. The PS3 beats the Xbox 360 games. The Triple Bottom Line Book Report

...The Triple Bottom Line: How Today’s Best-Run Companies Are Achieving Economic, Social, and Environmental Success— and How You Can Too I chose this book because the title drew my attention since the beginning. When I read the title I understood that in this book the Author’s were going to talk about how big corporations deal with sustainability. That for me was really important, as sustainability is such a hard concept to grasp. I believe that the best way to understand about sustainability is with examples and cases that happen in real life. On this book Andrew Savitz and Karl Weber, put all their vast experience and knowledge in sustainable practices and recollect big cases of the corporate world and study them. Some events are about mistakes the corporations did when they failed to understand the Triple bottom Line in their business decisions. Others are great examples of how companies found the “sustainability sweet spot” (a concept of them) and were able to achieve success not only economical, but also social and environmental. The purpose of the authors is to inform and educate the reader about how a company needs to balances social economical and environmental growth on todays world. The books starts with an important introduction, explaining what it is sustainability or at least they try as like I said before is such a hard concept to calculate. Where I believe they nail their explanation is when they start telling us what a sustainable company is and......

Data on Fixed Line vs. Cellular Debate

...Data on Fixed Line vs. Cellular Debate Fixed line networks were the standard up until cellular phones were introduced. Fixed lines are in almost every home and building today so people have the ability to utilize a telephone and data service. To receive or transmit data over the fixed line a modem is needed. The modem takes the digital information and turns it into tones that have been selected for the transmission over telephone network. The modem at the other end is responsible for turning the tones back into digital data. Data rates were limited until digital subscriber line (DSL) was introduced. DSL used the existing analog phone line so there was no need for new equipment other than modems that convert digital data into high-frequency tones along with a filter at the users end to keep DSL transmission from being heard on the telephone.” The pros to having a fixed line network is that it is a lot cheaper. Most providers even offer free broadband service when you are paying for other services. You also have a higher download allowance which makes it a lot easier to download large files such as movies and videos. Also allowing you to stream things from the internet and send things to family and friends much faster. Basically having a fixed line allows you to use to full potential of the internet. Fixed line networks allow for faster processing speeds and a consistent connection. You will experience less dropped calls and internet failures with a fixed line network.......

Differences Between a Land-Line vs Cellular Phone

...Unit 1 Lab: Landline vs Cellular Debate Technology has changed the world as we know it. There is a great debate that is up for discussions when it comes to whether or not mobile devices can be uses as the only source of communication. Some say just “cut the cord” but before you do you sure you completely understand the affects that come as a result of your new decision. The truth of the matter is that this decision all depends on the type of lifestyle that you have. There are pros to a landline as well as having a mobile device. In this paper I will discuss some of the pros and some cons of each. I will also give my opinion to how a Skype style organization should go with a fixed line or a cellular solution to this debate. So Cut the Cord? If you are always on the go then cut the cord may seem to me more popular to you. The number one pro to having a mobile device is the fact that it is mobile. You can stay in constant communication with others all over the world. No worries about which calls you receive because ultimately you had to give them your number. The cost seems fair in most instances because you have many features that allow connecting to the world around you. You can do everything on your phone surf the web, play games and do business all on one device. A downsize to this option is that mobile devices need a battery to operate. So what happens when you can’t charge your phone? You need to have a back battery or physically run your car so that you can......

Data on Fixed Line vs. Cellular Debate

...on Fixed Line vs. Cellular Debate The debate over the merits of fixed line vs cellular data transmission is complex. There are many issues that define the advantages and disadvantages of both styles of communication. One obvious aspect to be considered is the need for mobility and portability. Not only is there any increasing demand in business communications, but the personal market in mobile information technology is experiencing explosive growth. With this growth come several concerns. Some of these include: 1. Security attacks when using unsecured connections. 2. Unwanted device connection (such as neighboring Bluetooth devices) 3. Reliable connections (building construction, distance to tower, etc.) 4. Lost or stolen devices. 5. Loss of service due to discharged batteries. Many advantages also exist with mobile cellular connections such as cheaper calling rates (especially on long distance calls), can double as mobile access point for laptops, and access where fixed line connections are not available. Also, cellular connections are safer during electrical storms as a direct connection to physical lines is not needed. Fixed line connections have some advantages over cellular. One advantage is the ability to make large downloads faster (although this is becoming less and less of a limiting factor with cellular connections). Currently, fixed line connections are cheaper that cellular for data transfer. Another advantage is in security. Fixed line......

Fixed Line vs Cellular Debate

...Fixed Line vs. Cellular Debate Quida Graham ITT Technical Institute Fixed lines offer higher data rates than cellular networks. A fixed line is cost effective for large volumes of data. Fixed lines also include cordless phones. Landlines work in most homes without a problem. You might miss place the landline; but not lose it. You don’t have to upgrade a landline as often as cellular phone. The data is delivered by telephone wires or fiber optics. The connections can be as fast as 100Mb. Landlines have more security than cellular lines. Troubleshooting and dropped calls are not prevalent in landlines as they are in cellular phones. The advantage of cellular service is mobility. You can make a phone call while shopping or walking your dog. The cost of cellular service is cheaper than a landline. You can access the internet at any time and write word documents and print later. Cellular phones are user friendly with other devices. Speed is not an issue with cellular service; the G3, G4 and now G5 are available to the public. Troubleshooting with cellular is easy because you can go to the store where you purchased the phone and get it fixed on the spot. I would recommend a business to go with a cellular solution that is offering Skype style services. You can access internet services in any location with cellular services. You can use the service with all kinds of devices. The speed would be an attractive package for consumers. References www.wikinvest.com......

Fixed Line vs Cellular

...Even though fixed line data network has been around for long period of time, cellular data network is relatively new. When the first telephones were becoming popular and getting to more common places there needed to be a medium in which to transmit the signals over long and large area. The solution was fixed lines, usually made of copper wire just recently some were transitioned to fiber-optic cables. The concept of cellular data transmission didn’t start rolling in the early 1990’s. Cellular data depends on tower connections. Even though fixed line network has been around for many year more and more people are given up their landline and using only their cellphones. If you are among the people like myself who are weighing the pros and cons of fixed line telephones and cellphones here are some key points to consider. Cost: Most cellphone companies charge more than what its customers use. On the other hand there are some places where getting fixed lines are more expensive or even impossible to get. The price of a phone itself for making calls on cellular can range from free to $400.00 with some type of agreement or contract. But a phone(s) for fixed landline can range from $9.99 to $120.00 that I have seen in stores. Also for example it is cheaper for me to call Ghana on a landline than on my cellphone. Even though I use a calling card the minutes don’t go as much on a landline as a cellphone. So if you are someone who makes a lot of international calls landline is the best......

Data on Fixed Line vs Cellular

...Physical Networking Unit 1 Lab 1 Data on fixed Line vs. Cellular Debate In this paper I will go over the pros and cons of having a fixed line network vs. a cellular network. When making this decision there are several things to consider, the most important is what this network is going to be used for. I am going to first go over the fixed line network then follow up with the cellular network. At the end of this paper I will do a recommendation to a new company that wants to open up a Skype- style service as to whether they should use a fixed line or a cellular network. Fixed line telephones was the main form of communication in 1877 and this was the case up to the time when cellular phone came into the world. Fixed lines are in every home and building today so everyone has the ability to have telephone and data service. To receive or transmit data over the fixed line a modem is needed on each end of the line. The modem takes the digital information and turns it into tones that have been specifically selected for the transmission over the telephone network. The modem on the other end is responsible for turning the tones back into the digital data. Modems transmit data over a telephone network that is designed for voice so the data rates were limited until digital subscriber line (DSL) was introduced. DSL utilizes the existing analog phone line so no need for new equipment other than modems that can convert the digital data into high-frequency tones along with a filter at...

On-Line vs Brick and Mortar Shopping

...On-line vs Brick and Mortar Shopping According to a trend analysis performed by eMarketer, online buying trends will grow from $225.5 billion dollars in 2012 to almost double the number at $434 billion dollars in 2017. Whether it is to buy food, clothing, gas or anything else ones heart desires, shopping is a necessary evil that we all must experience in everyday life. Luckily, in the past several years, the Internet has changed how society shops for goods. Now one can choose between physically driving to a brick and mortar storefront and dealing with the crowds or shopping from the comfort and convenience of their homes and avoiding the social aspect altogether. There are distinct advantages and disadvantages to both methods of shopping. Online shopping is more convenient than physical retail shopping as consumers can compare prices; there is a wider selection of goods, and it is less time-consuming. Who doesn’t enjoy a bargain? By shopping online for items, one can simply open a second tab in a web browser and then search for a better price. Within minutes, one is able to compare pricing between a plethora of different retailers to find that sought after item at a great price. Other websites may offer rebate codes and coupons that one may not find elsewhere which gives the online shopper an even bigger discount than physical retail means. Being able to multi-task with multi-tabs gives the consumer a distinct advantage by making sure that the price paid for an item is...

Chain Line Report

...reasrencesost of ich, vides theegReport of Homework 1 Chain Line Part * Introduction There are 24 betas provided and 4-5 chain lines on each beta. Our first job is to determine whether the chain lines on these betas are parallel. The significance of this part of work lies in casting light to our further studies on finding a chain lines’ pattern match between two paintings. * Result explanation Betas have all chain lines parallel: 83.3% Betas have at least one non-parallel chain line: 16.7% Betas have at least one parallel pair: 100% With our procedures, we consider 83.3% betas to have all chain lines parallel. 16.7% betas have at least one chain line that is not parallel with others. But all betas have at least one parallel pair. We set a human error range and achieve our result on the basis of this range. The portion of betas that have at least one non-parallel chain line will goes up if we narrow down the human error range. * Process 1) Human error range determination The chain lines on betas are not ideal lines. They are white long thin areas with a certain width, which will easily induce some human errors when we try to locate a coordinate of a point on the line. Hence human error range determination should be done before we start to look into parallel chain lines. First, we randomly choose a chain line and try to mark the leftmost side and the rightmost side of it. We picked the second chain line on tile RVR 122 B78ii Betadpi400. We......

Data vs Fixed Line vs Cellular Debate

...Jimmy Johnson NT1310 Monday Night Unit 1 Lab 1: Data on Fixed Line vs. Cellular Debate As many as one in six American households have given up their landline and are using only their cell phone, according to Steven Blumberg, a senior scientist at the Center for Disease Control’s Statistics department. If you are among the millions of Americans who are weighing the pros and cons of landlines vs. cell phones, here are a few things to consider. Cost: The most common reason to choose a cell phone is that in most areas, the cost of a cell phone plan is lower than the cost of a landline, especially when you count the cost of a long distance calling plan. However, the “per month” cost that many carriers quote can be misleading. As you compare the cost of a cell vs. a landline, consider these factors: •Do you need any services that aren’t covered in this plan? For example, will you be taking your cell phone out of the call area (i.e. roaming)? Does the cost of your landline plan include voice mail and caller ID? •Does your cell phone plan require a multi-year contract commitment? If so, what is the cost of ending your contract? •How much time do you spend talking on the phone, and when do you make your calls? Some providers offer free incoming calls, or free nights and weekends, but those aren’t helpful if you make lots of outbound calls during business hours. •How many people will use the phone? If you have a large family, you can ensure that everyone has a cell......
