Article Review
The results from the first article supported 4 out of the 5 hypothesis set for this study using the CDI (Fránová, Lukavský, & Preiss, 2008). User Fránová, Lukavský, and Preiss (2008) observed, without the use of the best predictors, the association between other CDI factors and scholastic achievements decreased. The results from the second article shared that a single cutoff score could not be produced or use as a solitary method of predicting depressive disorders. According to Timbremont, Braet, and Dreessen (2004), “This cutoff score is adequate in general screening because it is un-desirable to incorrectly diagnose child problems” (p. 155). Each articles use of the Children’s Depression Inventory concluded that the test was reliable in indicating depressive symptoms in children.
Both articles used the Children’s Depression Inventory (CDI) to identify correlations between the inventory and other factors specific to each articles’ study. The first article’s results detected that there is a CDI factor associated with school achievements but had the potential to influence obtained results, concluding that the CDI and insufficient method for this study (Fránová, Lukavský, & Preiss, 2008). Follies and absurdities are present in the play: Lucio slanders the Duke, not realizing that his crude remarks are being spoken to the Duke himself; Angelo abuses his power thinking that the Duke is not present to know; and Ragozine happens to die in prison the day a head is needed to substitute for Claudio's. The play also ends on several merry notes, consistent with the definition of comedy. For example, Angelo's life is spared and he is forgiven; Mariana is married to Angelo; the Duke punishes Lucio humorously with marriage; Barnardine is pardoned; and Claudio is saved. Patients are normally exposed to monitors, intravenous (IV) tubs, feeding tubes, catheters, and breathing machines. ...Measures of Variability Measure of variation is a measure that describes how spread out or scattered a set of data. It is also known as measures of dispersion or measures of spread. There are three measures of variation: the range, the variance, and standard deviation. The range is the true upper limit in a distribution minus the true lower limit. In a visual sense the Range = Highest value – Lowest value. In the sample we were provided, the range for this set of data is 8. This is because the highest value of the sample was 8, and the lowest value of the sample was 0. If I plug the numbers of the data set into the formula, range = 8-0. The answer we receive is 8. The interquartile range is range in a distribution between the end of the first quartile and the beginning of the third quartile. The formula for calculating the IQR is IQR = (QU-QL). Quartiles are the points in a distribution corresponding to the first 25% of the data set, the first 50% of the data set, and the top 25% of the data set. With all this being said, you must first find the quartiles before you find the interquartile range. In the sample that was given our quartiles are as follows: QL (lower quartile) equals 0.75, QM (median) equals 2, and QU (upper quartile) equals 3.5. My next step was to plug these numbers into the IQR formula. IQR = (3.5 –0.75), this makes the interquartile range equal to 2.75.
