Pandora case.

Pandora tried to use the business model of Gillette when the products differed significantly. I do not know who were the analysts who decided to suggest Hold and Buy signals for the company. And what kind of strategic management team did the company have, but this was extremely wrong. Selling such expensive items like jewelry in a business format as a household item that costs less than 30$ is so wrong in so many cases. The poor inventory management is due to the mentality of such items worn. Usually at that price people buy something that can be combined with other jewelry, thus they would not want to come back and wear the same bracelet with another charm. Thus, the strategy that they used was completely poor executed. As well, jewelry can be brought to a professional and the lock can be changed, in order for the charms to fin. In the case with Gillette, nobody would want to spend more time than required on a razor blade that costs 30$, and there are not many substitutes. The only idea how this could have been fixed, is if the shop would change the pricing, and balance out both the charm and the bracelets. Thus a buyer would have the possibility to buy what he desired at the price in which he would be satisfied. And that’s not for sure that it would help. The company has chosen a really bad business model to look on. And there are not many solutions to fix this…...

Pandora originally started with a subcription type of business model wherein users must pay $36 per month after they have used up their 10 hours of free access. The original model used was the free trial type. What happened was after the free trial of 10 hours was used up, the customers were unwilling to pay for the subscription fee. Now, the new and current model being used by Pandora is the freemium business model. The new model offered users longer time limit in using their features, which could be used again in the next month and so on. They gave the users 3 options after the free time was used up.
