In spite of the economy, for the past four months, your company, Fun and Games Travel, Inc., has enjoyed real success. You have organized and sold trips to such places as Cancun, Acapulco, Honolulu, Las Vegas, and San Francisco. Now you are working on a seven-day ski vacation to Purple Mountain, a newly developed ski area. You plan to fly groups of skiers to Ute City and then to take them to nearby Purple Mountain by chartered bus., Each group will arrive in the early afternoon on a Sunday and will depart at noon the following Saturday. Thus, you will need six nights of accommodations for each group. You have already acquired the information you need about air transportation to Ute City and bus transportation to Purple Mountain. Now you must get the information you need about the six nights of lodging, ski rentals, food, ski lift tickets, and so on. Your check of the Ute City Tourist Bureau website reveals only one facility that appears to meet your needs. It is the Ute Lodge, a place with 122 rooms, restaurant, ski rental shop, and lounge. The lodge also provides ski lift discounts for its guests. It should be adequate for housing the 40 people you expect to have in your group. You plan three groups for this ski season (more if demand justifies), beginning in February. (You may select specific dates.) Now you must ask the manager of the Ute Lodge, Owen Smith, the questions necessary for your planning. The lodge's website provides its standard daily room rates - $125 for single occupancy, $150 for double occupancy for most of the season with higher rates for peak holiday periods. You don't plan to schedule trips during these times. You will want a group discount. As your group tours usually include breakfasts and dinners, you must inquire about the costs of these meals. The daily schedules of group members will differ, so breakfasts would be eaten…...

...History and Development of Prisons The historical account of jails in our country can be traced back to the Epic age. In Ramayana, when Bharata saw Rama at Chitrakut, the latter, while making detailed inquiry about the state of polity and welfare of people of Ayodhya, did not forget to elicit the situation in jail there. References of jail are also there in the Mahabharata. In those mythological period there were eighteen important state officials and one of them was the bead of the institution of jail (karagriha) designated as kamyadhyrrkrkcr". In Manusmriti it is stated that "(the King) should have all the prisons built on the royal highway, where the suffering and mutilated evil doers can be seen". Development of the prison system Until the late 18th century, prisons were used mainly for the confinement of debtors who could not meet their obligations, of accused persons waiting to be tried, and of convicts who were waiting for their sentences--either death or banishment--to be put into effect. But imprisonment gradually came to be accepted not only as a device for holding these persons but also as a means of punishing convicted criminals. During the 16th century a number of houses of correction were established in England and on the continent for the reform of minor offenders. The main emphasis was on strict discipline and hard labour. The unsanitary conditions and lack of provisions for the welfare of the inmates in these houses of correction soon produced......

One Day at a Time

...Decatur Library, I called a friend from back home to have a distracting, loud conversation about sports. I figured that the idea of me talking about something unofficial instead of school matters would cause more of a response from bystanders. I got very lucky because although the library is never too busy, there was a good amount of people there this specific day. As I walked in, laughing about my experience in shooting free-throws, heads started turning in my direction. Not giving any effort to lower my voice, I observed one person give me a dirty look and whisper to her friend who she was sitting with. Right away the friend looked at me and just shook her head as if she was disgusted with me. I noticed that they were sitting in far corner so I slowly walked towards the water fountain continuing my conversation. As I got close to their table, I could tell they were getting irritated. However I wanted to see if they would simply ask me to be quite or if they were going to make comments about my phone usage under their breath. I honestly didn't think they were going to say anything to me, and sure enough they didn't. However, one of the girls mumbled under her breath, "I guess he doesn't understand this is a library." At this point, I figured I had observed enough, and ended my phone conversation. I then apologized for being a distraction, and made my way out....

...particular child’s interests or needs. Schools provide a ‘cookie-cutter’ education, which compels children tovie "for petty and contemptible rewards," rather than cultivate their intrinsic love of learning, which would serve to enhance their individual gifts and talents.  Rather that forcing our children to adapt to a system which makes them consider learning a dreary and painful task, Holt advocates that children be encouraged to learn by following their natural curiosities and interests, without fear and guilt.  3. Confusion: Once enrolled in school, the child often founds himselfbeing taught things that contradict what he has learned from his parents or other adults.  Furthermore, the adults at school treat him very differently than the ones at home.  This confusion is further exacerbated when a child, who is taught at home that curiosity is a positive and commendable thing, faces mockery and contempt from both teachers and fellow students for asking a question.  Through his research, Holt has observed that most children – largely for fear of such ridicule – cease to ask questions by age ten.    | | | | 4. Real Learning: Holt believes that "real learning" does not necessarily equate to mastering the basics of reading, writing, and arithmetic, but rather, occurs when a child is encouraged to develop his own gifts and talents.  Every expert has different views on what should be included in a child’s curriculum, and furthermore, much of what is taught in our schools......

One Day at the Time

...Coming into language n weekend graveyard shifts at St. Joseph’s Hospital I worked the emergency room, mopping up pools of blood and carting plastic bags stuffed with arms, legs, and hands to the outdoor incinerator. I enjoyed the quiet, away from the screams of shotgunned, knifed, and mangled kids writhing on gurneys outside the operating rooms. Ambulance sirens shrieked and squad car lights reddened the cool nights, flashing against the hospital walls: gray-red, gray-red. On slow nights I would lock the door of the administration office, search the reference library for a book on female anatomy and, with my feet propped on the desk, leaf through the illustrations, smoking my cigarette. I was seventeen. One night my eye was caught by a familiar-looking word on the spine of a book The title was 450 X&Y of C~~EW Hirtmy in Pictzms. On the cover were black-and-white photos: Padre Hidalgo exhorting Mexican peasants to revolt against the Spanish dictators; Anglo vigilantes hanging two Mexicans from a tree; a young Mexican woman with rifle and ammunition belts crisscrossing her breast; Cisar Chavez and field workers marching for fair wages; Chicano railroad workers laying creosote ties; Chicanas laboring at machines in textile factories; Chicanas picketing and hoisting boycott signs. From the time I was seven, teachers had been punishing 0 4 + WORKING INTHE DARK me for not knowing my lessons by making me stick my nose in a circle chalked on the blackboard. Ashamed of not......

One Aspect of a Typical Day

...Freewrite # 1: One Aspect of a Typical Day I remember the first day home with first my newborn. However, apart from the overwhelming excitement part of having my baby home, the rest did not happen as I expected or at least planned ahead. I always try to be organized and well-prepared; things should be exact. But now the baby comes first. I can’t imagine leaving him just for a minute to do other errands. My mom always told me “Your life will change when your baby arrives”. I did not really believe her at the time, but now I guess she was right. In my eyes, my baby is the most wonderful and precious thing in the world I have ever received. Not even the first birthday present, which was a bike I had long wished for, I got from my parents on my 6-years-old birthday can be compared. The very first moment I saw him in the delivery room when the mid-wife handed him to me, I could feel how much love coming from him holding him in my arms, and also how much love coming from my heart in return. However, dealing with his routine on a daily basis needs a lot of patience. I have to admit that, there are times where my patience is tested. There are times when I feel completely frazzled and annoyed. There are times I take my son for granted with the “work” and “worry”, and how much my tired body screams at me for a break. But I know I will never wish for anything else. I might know well that all a baby does is eat, poop, cry, and sleep. This sounds simple at first, but, turns out a......

English Day One

...My first day at school My mother accompanied me to school on the first day. Other parents accompanied their children as well. We all waited in front of the school office. Soon a teacher came and led us to some classrooms. There we were put into four separate classes. This was when some children began to cry as the parents were not allowed into the classrooms. I did not cry because I had been to kindergarten before. Actually my mother went home soon after for she knew I would be all right. It was an enjoyable time for me as I got to know my new classmates. The teacher was very busy writing down our particulars so we had plenty of time to ourselves. Meantime some children continued to sob while their parents looked in anxiously through the windows. Soon recess came. Some of us headed for the tuck-shop while the rest headed for their parents. I bought a drink with the money my mother gave me. Getting to know my new friends had made me thirsty. After recess we went back to out classroom and my new friends and I managed to coax two boys to stop crying. In fact, soon we were laughing and playing together. Once in a while the teacher had to tell us to keep quiet as we were making too much noise. Still some parents looked in anxiously through the windows. Finally the bell rang for us to go home. Some of us were very relieved to be reunited with our parents. I too was glad to see my mother waiting for me at the school gate. I had made many friends. It had......

According to the amazon link provided Amazon EC2 provides developers the tools to build failure resilient applications and isolate themselves from common failure scenarios. Amazon supports a high number of languages. One major like I found on this site is you pay for only what you use, and they have a range of instance types from some as simple as storage, to cluster computing for higher performance, they also have network security tools so the user can control who can access their computers or who can’t access certain information. Amazon says their EC2 has 99.95% availability for each Amazon EC2 Region. The main upsides that catch my interest are price, security, and reliability, I believe this will be the main hook to catch customers interest when it comes to Amazons EC2 September 13, 2013 Amazons EC2 had a network issues that cause amazon to have a cloud outage and “The company also experienced increased error......

...I agree, with all these high cost it’s a loose, loose situation. The hospital bill is not being paid by customers because they cannot afford to pay the high cost of medical. The hospital then loses money finding it very difficult to offer quality care and to keep their doors open. Customers will lose quality care and have to pay higher cost and insurance premiums keeps getting higher each year. Medications are very expensive and your health insurance can force you to get fill your medications from different pharmacies. For example I was filling my prescription at Stop and Shop and one day the pharmacy told me that they no longer accept my insurance and I would have to go to CVS to fill all my prescription from now on. These insurance companies control everything whether you pay or not. What is a demand curve in health care? Provide an example of a demand curve in health care. How could this example affect the economics of health care? This predictable relationship between price and quantity demanded allows us to define demand formally as the quantity of a good or service that buyers are willing and able to buy at every conceivable price. The demand curve shows this relationship graphically. A graphical representation of this economic relationship produces the classic downward sloping demand curve and the upward sloping supply curve. At some point in time however, the treatment plan is completed, the patient is satisfied, and additional services are not needed. This is......

One Day at Work

...One day at work The first thing I do is to sign the fire log with the time when I come in. It is important to sign in because in case a fire starts my colleagues will know that I am in the building. I am participating at the handover, is important to join the handover in the morning because I need to be informed if are any issues with the residents I am going to work with. I am going to check the allocation with the team leader, it is important to find out if I have to escort a resident to hospital or I am working on the floor and which residents I am allocated to. I check the residents if they are alright and after I start the breakfast. Every day I do the menu for the next day, I ask for their opinion, I read for them what is on the menu for the next day. After I finish breakfast, I start personal care, I respect every resident needs, sometimes they refuse the personal care in the morning, they prefer to have a shower in the evening. Before giving personal care I explain to them what I will be doing. I explain each step along the way, especially if it is their first time with me. Respecting their privacy and dignity will help make it a soothing and comfortable experience for them. Personal care is an opportune time to observe the condition of their body for any redness, tenderness or painful areas. An important thing is to have everything I need within easy reach before giving personal care. I adjust the room temperature so it is warm and comfortable; I close the......

These diseases have been linked to the choices of food people choose and over indulge in additionally, people that smoke, use alcohol frequently are more likely to be diagnosed with these diseases.
