How to Be a Good Parent

...A very good morning to our teachers, parents, guardians and students. It gives me great pleasure to join you here today for our Open Day in this year. On this glorious morning, I, XXX the founder of Brainy Montessori , I am going to give a talk on “What Does It Take To Be A Good Parent?”. In my speech, I am going to share with you some characteristics of a good parent. According to Oxford Dictionary, parent define as a person who is a father or mother or a person who has a child. Parent also define as to be or act as a mother or father to someone. Another definition of parent is an animal or plant that produces a young animal or plant and also define as something out of which another thing has developed. Good in other hand define in Oxford Dictionary as having the required qualities, of a high standard, possessing or displaying moral virtue, and also that which is morally right. Therefore for me, good parent is someone refer to father or mother who loves their children unconditionally, communicates openly with their children, is involved in their children lives as much as they can be, someone who is there for them when they need someone, some one who teaches good morals and values, someone who shows them right from wrong, strict but not too strict. Parenting is a lifelong journey. As parents, we have an important responsibility. Every parent wants to be a good parent and role model for our children. But to be a good parent is not easy. The Characteristics of a Good Parent

...Characteristics of a Good Parent A good parent is guardian and a protector of the family. How do I know ? Because I have two great parents. My parents raised me from a little boy. They have given me guidance and love. My mother is a very patient women, who helps me very much. My dad is a very responsible man who makes sure everything is okay. One characteristic of being a good parent is being responsible. That means that you go out and get a job. You buy food and provide shelter and clothing. It also means being mature enough to handle situations that need thought and care. Being a good parent you must also provide stability and stucture. Another characteristic of good parenting is being a good role model. You must provide guidance to your children so they can stay on the right path. You must teach them the importance of a good education and help them to succeed at it. You must also set good examples for your child. Don't just talk about it, be about it. You must have patience to be a good parent. Screaming and hitting a child is not a good example of patience. My parents take the time to talk to me. They explain life. The do"s and the dont's. Although, I am hard headed. I do realize that they love me and they are looking out for my best interest. Being a good parent is hard work but it's for a good cause. You need to have a strong household, with rules and structure. Role models are good people that want to become good......

What Are Some of the Qualities of a Good Parent?

...become a parent is a god's gift. We have to utilise that gift in a good way. The children's behaviour will depend on how their parents brought them up. So it is a very important duty of a parent to take a good care of their children. It is a very big responsibilty of a human beig to be a good parent. A parent is said to be a good parent only after seeing how he has brought up his children. They should bring up the children in a very good discipline. Discipline doesn't mean that they have to to punish their children for each and everything. It is common that children do mistakes, what a good parent must do is he has to tell his children what is good and what is bad in a way that they can understand that. Giving punishment will not help them in any way, instead it will create new problems. Children will develop hatred towards their parents because of the punishments given to them. So it is the responsibility of a good parent to teach children what is good and what is bad. Bringing up the children is not a easy task.It needs lot of patience. During the early childhood, parents need lot of patience to take care of the children. So having patience is one of the quality that a good parent must have. Now-a-days both mother and father have to work in order to lead a happy life. But it should not affect the children. They have to spend atleast sometime with their children everyday. Otherwise they will get the feeling that they were neglected by thier parents. This is not a good......

What Makes Good Parents

...The bond between parents and children is one of love and affection; yet we come across people who hate their parents and also people who feel that their parents have let them down. Why it this the case ? Are these people unnatural or are they justified ? Perhaps in some cases they are justified. Most men and women get married and have children but not all of them are worthy of being parents. Parenthood, like other responsibilities, needs devotion, dedication and a lot of preparation. Prospective parents must recognize their responsibilities and realize what parenthood involves. The first essential of good parenthood is the acceptance of the role. A man who marries when he is young may resent his first child for it would be a rival for the affection of the lady of the house. Similarly. a woman may resent her first child because it suddenly puts her in a different class of women. Couples who become parents can no longer call their time their own. Often the newcomer may necessitate changes in the household routine, giving up of a job on the part of the mother and various other sacrifices. The world of affection which should surround a child should precede its birth. It is here that good parenthood begins. Fondness, however, is at no stage a synonym of pampering and spoiling children. Parents have the responsibility of cultivating those qualities in their children which may help them to face life, make them brave and likeable human beings, impart to them a sense of integrity......

Being a Good Parent

...1. Determine where you are. This is harder than is looks. Some people see themselves how they WANT to see themselves, not how they actually appear to others. Many small businesses get snared in this same trap. For an accurate picture of where your business is, conduct external and internal audits to get a clear understanding of the marketplace, the competitive environment, and your organization’s competencies (your real—not perceived—competencies). 2. Identify what’s important. Focus on where you want to take your organization over time. This sets the direction of the enterprise over the long term and clearly defines the mission (markets, customers, products, etc.) and vision (conceptualization of what your organization’s future should or could be). From this analysis, you can determine the priority issues—those issues so significant to the overall well-being of the enterprise that they require the full and immediate attention of the entire management team. The strategic plan should focus on these issues. 3. Define what you must achieve. Define the expected objectives that clearly state what your organization must achieve to address the priority issues. 4. Determine who is accountable. This is how you’re going to get to where you want to go. The strategies, action plans, and budgets are all steps in the process that effectively communicates how you will allocate time, human capital, and money to address the priority issues and achieve the defined objectives. 5. Good Parents

...Parenting is a lifelong journey. As parents, we have an important responsibility. Every parent wants to be a good parent and role model for our children. But effective parenting is not easy. It is a journey of trial and error, day-and-night learning and growing together with your child. While the task can be discouraging, parents are certainly not alone in raising your child. Beyond traditional sources of support, there are various resources that parents can tap on. What can we as parents do to create a positive home learning environment for our child? There is no need for expensive toys, special programmes, or pushing children to count, read and write ahead of the curve. Early childhood experts have shared with me that it all boils down to building a strong bond with your child. Even routine tasks such as the changing of diapers can become a developmental experience, for example: talk to your child while you are changing his diaper. Look into your child’s eyes while you sing or talk. Read or tell stories to your child in the language that you are most comfortable with. Play outdoors. Simple acts like these can develop parent-child relationships that are warm, loving and responsive. Apart from the home environment, This is why we need to give our children early childhood education exposure to help them develop natural interests. Montessori education is an educational approach developed by Italian physician and educator Maria Montessori and characterized by an emphasis...

What Are the Characteristics of a Good Parent

...What are the characteristics of a good parent? (Word Count 351) Parents play a major role in the life of a child. Although, the invention of so many toys and the influence of peers have greatly affected children’s behavior of modern time, parents with good traits can use these influences to mold the personality and behavior of a child for the good. I believe that ideal parents should be of good moral character, good listener and patience. Parents should have good moral character, because they are the role models of children. It has been known that children are the reflection of their parent’s trait. For instance, my parents do not smoke, gamble or drink. They express virtue in all their actions. They taught us how to respect to elders, and be sensitive to other people’s feelings all the time. They have been my idol all my life, because they were able to raised six children so well and none of us went astray. Furthermore, being a good listener is very important. When parents have time to listen to their children, the communication is open between parties. To illustrate, my brother failed his science subject in school. My parents did not judge or scold him, instead they talked to him and listened to his concerns. They found out that he did not understand his lesson well because of his assigned seat. He was sitting next to an air conditioner, and it bothered him. Having patience has a lot to do with parenting. Although children behavior gets out of hand sometimes......

What Does It Take to Be a Good Parent

...Alexis M. Welker Eng 111 June 24, 2013 A Good Parent Parents have many characteristics, when they are being defined. Being a good parent overrules them all. A child’s behavior is determined by their home training. Some parents fail to take responsibility for their child and their actions, unlike good parents. Good parents bond with their children, to let the child know they care and are there for them at any time. Good parents show affection and love their child unconditionally. A good parent is a role model. A good parent is emotionally, physically, and mentally there for their child. The parent takes time to be with the child, does not rush them, takes responsibility, and understands the child. A good parent does not spoil their child. A spoiled child becomes disrespectful, bitter, and hard to tame. The parent establishes ground rules, so the child can take ownership of their actions. Children tend to get into a mode as they become teenagers. A good parent listens to their child. A parent can have different point of views rather than looking at the child perspective of things. The parent shows affection and concern while they listen. The child absorbs good characteristics from their parents. Good parents are role models for their children. The child learns what to say, how to say it, what to do, and how to do it from their parents. The child learns how to respect others, be responsible, and be a hard-worker. When a parent spends a lot of time with their child, they......

How to Be a Good Parent

... etc. Had God created the world by himself? ʘ After long discussions with stones, trees, the river and frogs of the island, Aletheia went back to her grandma saying: “It is a lie. God did not make the world”. The old lady was surprised: “And why do you think so, Aletheia?”. - “Because God does not exist”, answered the girl. - “No?". - “No”. - “May I ask you how you figured that out?”. - “I looked all around and I do not see him anywhere. Ever”. - “Not even a clue?”. - “Nothing”. Her grandmother thought for a while and asked: “If you see Him, will you believe in Him?”. - “Yes”, answered Aletheia, for children always want to believe in beautiful things, as long as they make some sense. - “Then tomorrow I shall take you to see God”. Aletheia's face was enlightened. - “Really?”. - “Yes”. - “Do you promise?”. - “I promise”. She imagined him with many arms and many hands and hundreds of fingers, operating alone the whole world. God probably had wings to fly. Maybe He had eyes on the nape of his neck and on the palms of his hands... to keep an eye on every single creation. She wished to know how his voice was, because she wanted to make some questions and expected answers. She left her imagination wander until she fell asleep. ʘ The next morning she woke up early and her grandmother asked: “Are you ready to see God?”. - “Yes, I am!”. - “Then move”, urged the grandmother, “for we must climb the mountain”. - “Which one?” – inquired Aletheia, who was a......

How to Be Good

...Analysis of “How to Be Good” In the excerpt from the novel How to be Good, the author, Nick Hornby introduces a story that illustrates an issue of homelessness in an upper middle class neighborhood. The narrator, Katie Carr, finds herself in a situation where she is dealing with her husband, David, and his friend’s, GoodNews, mission to change their neighborhood by decreasing the number of homeless youth. Their solution to this neighborhood problem is to use spare rooms in the neighborhood’s houses as temporary shelter until youth are more established on their own. They gather all of their neighbors at the party and introduce this problem and their solution to obtain everyone’s opinion. As a result of this gathering, David and GoodNews illustrate their “goodness” to their community by encouraging people to become part of the solution. Even though the other side of their solution is presented to the audiene, five people feel that they have an obligation to change the lives of these homeless children. Katie Carr is facing a dilemma because she truly believes that she is a good person since she has become a doctor to help others. In addition, she considers herself to be a good mother and a wife. However, she opposes the idea of hosting and aiding homeless youth from her neighborhood in her house because she strongly believes that she doesn’t have to share her house with the homeless youth since that would limit her family and herself. Katie supports the fact that everyone......

Definition of a Good Parent

...Definition of a Good Parent Raising a child is not an easy task; and, not every person that has a child is equipped with what it takes to be a good parent. Each person has their own opinion of the definition of good parenting; however, there are a few basic, fundamental suggestions that some may want to consider when faced with child rearing. First and most importantly, a good parent should show love and affection toward their child or children. Secondly, it is also essential that a parent be able to set good examples for their children. Lastly, in order to be an effective parent, a person must learn how to take a break for themselves once in a while. A good parent shows love, is a good role model, and takes cares of their wellbeing. Love and affection is the foundation of a healthy relationship between a parent and their child. This suggestion applies to all parents, it does not matter how old they are, what color they are, where they are from, or if they are male or female. Taking care of a child’s basic necessities and keeping the child safe from harm is, without a doubt, part of the love and affection equation. Love and affection provides a sense of security and worth in a developing child. Being a good role model is also crucial when nurturing a growing human being. A good parent should remember that their actions speak louder than their words. A parent should set high standards for themselves and treat other people the way they would like to be treated. Being......

What Makes a Good Parent

...How is positive parenting different from negative parenting? Which do you think is more effective? Why? Positive parenting is different from negative parenting because positive parenting focuses on using positive words and the parent tells the child why they should follow the rules that have been set for them. Negative parenting is when the parent tries to control what the child does so they can do as told. I think positive parenting works better because the child won’t feel like the parent is telling them what or what not to do just to be mean or take their fun away. They will understand if they have a reason. Do you think children should have more rules or fewer rules in the home? Why? I feel like children should have fewer rules in the home because if you throw too many rules at them all at one time they will feel like they’re being controlled and they have no freedom then they will try to rebel against you to do what they want. How would you deal with a situation of biting? Do you think your approach would fit into a “positive parenting” framework? Why or why not? I think in a biting situation I would calmly tell my child that biting hurts and that it’s not okay. I would then tell them the consequences of biting someone and what they could do to someone's skin or someone could be sick. I think my method could work because I don’t think that the child wants to get sick from biting someone or tear of someone's skin. I think it fits into the positive parenting framework...

A Good Parent

...way to raise your child? How do you make sure the child you are raising becomes a productive member of society? How can you be sure that everything you have taught him is what he needs to know to tackle life? Did I discipline him enough, does he know right from wrong? Many parents ask themselves questions like these daily. But how do you know if you are raising your child right? I mean there is no degree in parenting. You take what you know from growing up and decided I want to be like my parents, or I will never be like my parents. I guess there is no sketched out map to raise your child correctly, but there are key things every parent needs to remember. Being a good parent requires you to be their parent not their best friend, discipline and most importantly love and nurture. To many parents these days feel they need to be their child’s best friend, they worry too much about how their child views them. A parent should be a good role model, model the behavior they wish there kids to show. But being their best friend will only hinder your child in the long run. They need someone who will set boundaries, someone who will discipline and someone who they can turn to when they need advice. I think it is important to be involved with your child’s life, but a parent must remember their involvement needs to be limited to being a parent and not a friend. Your child should be able to turn to you when they need advice or they are in trouble, and as a parent you should always make......

...doesn’t seem to be able to come up with a justifiable reason as to why she’s suddenly slipped back and simply puts it down to the increase the volume of homework and the difficulty of class attendance. While this might be a valid explanation, I believe I have come to know Hillary very well over the past 2 years. I have a feeling that there might well be other reasons as to her schoolwork’s decline which I’m yet to establish. I would not like to see Hillary suffering in any way. Therefore, I would be grateful if you could call me to arrange a suitable day and time we can meet to discuss the matter further. I look forward to hearing from you.
