` DREAM HOUSE

My dream house, what would it be what would it look like it, and most important where will I build it. I like the countryside wide open areas, maybe farm lands with some animals. But I do like the city life with the nose, rude people, and heavy traffic on the high way. There is pros and cons to both environment, the countryside close to no air pollution, but less services you need to travel more to access services. The pros and cons of the city life more cultural opportunities, more diversity of people, more opportunities for higher education, better services like trash collection, water and sewer, cons more crime, more pollution, higher costs living. So as you can see I am little undecided about my dream house so. I am just going to explain two type of dream houses and locations one countryside and one in the city. First the city it would most likely be in Broward County a lake front home of course “I love water”. It would be 3 story house because it’s very hard to build full basements here. So one of the floors would be more like a half basement because the property will have a 3 car garage. The outside of the house would be a dark brown wood siding, and then a simple rock base that goes up about 1 feet on the house to give the old house effect. The side facing the water would be all glass so we can always look out to the gorgeous lake in front of us. It would have a long paved private driveway. The first floor would have moving glass door, doors opens with voice commands. There is a small flower garden and vegetable garden off to the one side of the house with solar powdered lights wrap around the whole house. At night the house look like a big Christmas ornaments. There are a few grape fruit trees scattered…...

The Dream House

...My Dream House During a stress filled day do you ever find yourself daydreaming of being back at home? Not just an ordinary home, but the perfect house to relax and spend amazing moments with your loved ones. I always find myself dreaming about this not only the house itself but I also think of the surrounding and location of my house because the environment can influence the behavior, emotion and health. My imagination of a perfect home is a big, quiet, spacious and beautiful house located by the sea side. I find myself on an all-white brick path leading to my dream house. I walk with anxiety toward the house as if it is my first time seeing it. All around me lay the most beautiful trees and plants I have ever seen. It is peaceful but you can hear the sounds of birds chirping and small creatures playing in the underbrush. I now see my house for the first time up close. Nothing could have prepared me for the moment I was about to experience. Before me stood a three story tall house, with walls that are made of stucco painted in a cream and white color and it has an old fashion shingles that are a gray color. As I approach the front of the house I am surrounded by four columns leading to the most elegant doors I have ever seen. They are made of mahogany and have a stained glass window in the center. The handles and the frame are made of brass. As I continue around the house I come across three windows overlooking the entrance to the house. There are white shutters on...

I would like my house count as much as possible with green materials that serve to protect the environment I want my house to be located in a place away from the disturbance of a big city, but at the same time not far from civilization. My personality and lifestyle would allow me to feel comfortable in such a place like this. I think a perfect place to live for me would in California although I do not know exactly what part of it I know California is the kind of environment in which I would like to live. Being one of the largest states California has many large and famous cities in which my house could be built as San Francisco or Long Beach. The Mediterranean climate is also perfect for me because I am already used to hot temperatures with nice cold winters. The design I want for my house is a stunning example of Art Deco Streamline Moderne house style. Streamline Moderne is a late type of the Art Deco design style which......

...What is one to do when one’s dream is deferred? How does one cope and move on with the several emotions that have been built because of this delay? In the play A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, many characters’ dreams are deferred. From Beneatha’s dream of becoming a doctor to Walter’s dream of opening his own liquor store, dreams in the Younger family are genuinely abundant. A Raisin in the Sun portrays the life of the Younger’s, an African-American family living on the South Side of Chicago in the setting of sometime between WWII to the 1950s. As the play opens, Mama is expecting an insurance check of $10,000 that comes from the deceased Mr. Younger’s life insurance policy. Each of the adult members of the family has their own ideas as to how to what he or she would like to do with this money; Mama wants to buy a house to fulfill a dream she shared with Walter Sr. while Walter, Mama’s son, would rather use the money to invest in a liquor store. And, Ruth, Walter’s wife, agrees with Mama and hopes that she and Walter will be able to provide a better lifestyle for their son Travis. Finally, Beneatha, Mama’s daughter thus Walter’s sister, wants to use the money for her academics. As the play progresses, the Younger’s clash over their competing dreams. “Pink Houses” and the American Dream

...“Pink Houses” and the American Dream What is the American Dream? Is the American Dream to go from having nothing to building an empire? Could the American Dream be to live a simple life? To some people the American Dream could be to simply live in a country where they have freedoms unlike those in many other countries. John Mellencamp’s “Pink Houses” is his interpretation of the American Dream. The vast majority of people have different interpretations of the American Dream. Mellencamp’s song “Pink Houses,” includes lyrics such as “Cause they told me when I was younger said boy, you’re gonna be president.” ("JOHN COUGAR MELLENCAMP LYRICS") This verse represents an American parent expressing a high expectation for their son to achieve in life. Some people think that to achieve the American Dream, one must reach for the stars; such as, striking it rich or owning a multi-billion dollar corporation. Other people however, think in a more modest way such as in the verse “There’s a black man with a black cat livin’ in a black neighborhood, he’s got an interstate runnin’ through his front yard you know he thinks he’s got it so good.” ("JOHN COUGAR MELLENCAMP LYRICS") This lyric references the mindset that as long as people are living free and happy, it does not matter how much they have but rather what they have. History shows that the American Dream originally held different meanings than it does today. Yesterday the American Dream meant that by living in America, a man......

Dream House

...Lou Holtz once said, “See, winners embrace hard work”. Learning new things in your life is never easy. Sometimes it’s going to be a great challenge on doing it the correct way. Have you ever run track before? Well I want to give you a few steps on how to do it the easiest way. Track requires three simple steps. These steps are having a great mindset and focus, your equipment you’ll need, and how to truly run track. So sit back and buckle up your seatbelt, because I’m about to take you on a wild ride. Tuning out crowd noise and distractions would be the first step to anything you do with track. Focusing on the task at hand always gets you better results with anything. Get your mind in a place to where it’s just you and your objective at hand. This will also require a lot of practice and hard work. Keeping a positive attitude is also very important. Unfortunately for many, negative statements are used instead of positives ones. You should always avoid negative statements in your life and also in mediation exercises. You should also believe that you’ve won the race even before it has started. By doing this exercise, it gives you a better chance to succeed at what you are doing. When you have a lot of confidence in yourself, it starts to show in everything you do. From sprinting to distance events in track and field, to cross country races, deciding on whether a racing spike or a regular training shoe works for you is a key factor. While running spikes can......

The Struggles to Achieve the American Dream in the House on Mango Street

...English 102 - #3300 9 November 2014 Paper #1- Resubmit edition The struggles to achieve the American Dream in The House on Mango Street Sandra Cisneros is the author of several books including The House on Mango Street. She has been writing for more than forty-five years, publishing for more than thirty-five years. The House on Mango Street was first published in 1984, and has sold over two million copies since its initial publication and is still selling strongly today. The book tells the story of Esperanza Cordero, whose neighborhood is one of harsh realities and natural beauty. The house on Mango Street is not the house, which Esperanza has been dreaming about; however, it is symbolical of the struggles to achieve the American Dream. That dream of the young girl depicts a reality. The house on Mango Street has much better quality than the third floor on Loomis, which is where the Esperanza lived before. That improvement shows that Esperanza’s family is trying to make their dream come true, little by little in changing their lives. It also proves that her family can achieve the dream of the real house. The house on Mango Street depicts a house in which the family resides. In any event, the place on Loomis is merely a third floor that Esperanza cannot proudly admit that it is her house to the nun passing by. Esperanza describes the gloomy third floor as, “The house on Mango Street is ours and we don’t have to pay rent to anybody or share the yard with people......

...My Dream House My dream house will be a big house that have small flower-garden in front of the house. Also, there would be enough space for playground. So that everyday all my kids can play there. On the backyard, there will be a medium swimming pool with a wide place wherein it would be a nice place to enjoy on every weekend with my family. Moreover, my dream house will be a three-storey house that will be made of stone outside and wood inside. On the first floor, there will be a lot of space. The living room, kitchen, dining room, and laundry room will be located in the first floor. The wall must be have blue which is my favourite colour. Along the hallway, there would be family-pictures and achievements hanging in there. Then on the living room, there will be a big sofa where I and my family could relax and watch our favourite movies comfortably and a big chandelier that light up the whole living room. The dining room and kitchen room must be near each other. Next to the dining room, it would be a normal laundry room where I can do the washing up and iron clothes. And on the second floor, it will be have one master bed room and three medium bed rooms and for each room will have one bathroom. Dreams

...Caleb Crawford Psychology Period 6 Dream Essay A dream is a period of spontaneous brain activity usually lasting from about 5-40 minutes that occurs during sleep several times a night usually about 90 minute intervals dreams allow a person to take a closer look into his their mind and themselves sometimes dreams act as a way to discover yourself, dreams can be used to solve all different types of problems. There are also certain types of dreams. There are fantasy, daydream and waking dreams. There are also lucid dreams, nightmares and night terrors. There are also certain stages in the dream cycle. In the first stage, your body temperature drops, your eyes close and your brain waves begin regular alpha rhythms, indicating a relaxed state. In many of my dreams, what happen in my dreams would happen the next day or within the following days. I think the reason for this is because when I would wake up and remember my dreams threw out that day I would be thinking about those dreams I had, had so the more I thought about it the more I would want to make those dreams come true. Like for example Tuesday night I had dreamed about a project I had due the next day in English and my dream was me presenting my PowerPoint and in my dream I had done very good on my essay. We were suppose to present for 5 minutes and I did like 6 minutes and I answered all the questions that my classmates had and I did very good on the whole project in my dream. So when it came time to present my......

...Theories of Counseling 11/24/14 Personal Experience Paper #3 When writing down my dreams I found this to be quite interesting. As a child I use to attend counseling to help me stop dreaming because of the nightmares I use to have. Anyhow after my counseling I never seemed to dream anymore and when I did I could never seem to remember them. Unlike my dreams before my counseling as a child (which I can remember quit vividly and still remember them to this day) dreams now seem to become mixed with memories of real life events—now I just assume any memory that I can’t mentally verify as a past dream and that I must be experiencing déjà vu. Never the less, I wrote down two dreams. The first one was a lucid dream—I know this because I had the dream after I laid back down from waking up to use the bathroom. I did try to interact with the dream but normally once I become fully aware that I’m dreaming I wake up shortly after. Another issue I had was that when I go back and read what my dream was about it is very scattered; and I have a problem understanding my writing as well as remembering the dream at after re-reading days later what I had wrote. When I try to interpret my first dream all I get from it is that about 50% of it deals with what I do on a day to day bases. I work in a call center and most of my dream dealt with me in work talking on the phone to customers. The other 50% of that dream dealt with my family. I’m not really close to my relatives and I dreamed that I......

Dream House

...In life everyone has their own dreams, whether it be about cars, houses, or their career. Most people I know dream to have the biggest and luxurious houses but I was always satisfied with mine. My house is not a tiny apartment nor a huge mansion but a two story, plain brown brick cozy house with white painted doors. The front yard is decorated with beautiful flowers; roses, lilies, violets, dahlias, daisies and much more, my mother usually plant them. She says, "Flowers are a pleasure and perfection of nature, and they give many things to people, and it does not matter if you are rich or poor, they give you a wonderful world which makes you feel happy". It definitely makes her and our neighbors happy. She shares the seeds of her flowers with the neighbors since they love and always compliment her garden. Walking through the front doors of my house after a long day of school always makes me feel so relaxed. There is always a smell of fresh vanilla or brown sugar candles the moment I walk through my white painted door. As I walk up the stairs and I see four bedrooms and a washroom. There is one bedroom for each of us in the family; my parents, brother, sister and myself. I usually go straight to my room when I get home. The walls in my room are painted a nice light green. There’s my bed in the middle of the room, a desk, night table and a closet. I have always wished I had a walk in closet but I'm comfortable with what I have now, this closet does me just fine. I usually lay......

A Dream House

...deaths each week. Grady Dixon, Ph.D and a biometerorologist at Mississippi state university states that depressed people are able to be motivated to take action in the spring. He also reflects on one of the oldest therios; depressed people in the winter time don’t bounce back in the spring. They feel like the new season has came, but nothing about them has changed. This is the feelings that carry over and they do not get rid of during the winter. They feel feeling lonley, imcomplete, and unworthy of life and by the spring time all this pressure is building up and they have the courage to commit suicide. Another key point I want to bring to attention is the visual outside. When it is raining, cold, and dark for weeks people tend to stay in the house more. The sky is always drewy and grey. The color grey is assocated with a timeless sad and lonely mood. Epecuially a dull smokey grey color and being sorrunded by that color with no sunlight can damage the spirit. It make a person feel like they are useless and they want to kill themselves. Life is sometimes full of dullness in the spring. A person did not meet requirments for the new years and the weather is making it ten times worse; a recipe for suicide. I agree that colors and the weather have a direct correlation to a person’s emtions and behaviors. I beilve that there is enough psychological evidence and facts to prove this calim. Not only through reaserch but also through observing my enviromrent and the people around my......

My Dream House

...My Home Each year millions of dollars are spent on therapy because people want to re-live their childhood. These people discover late in life that childhood was the time period where the most meaningful parts of life were. Things from our past don't just fade away, they are part of us, and most people greatly miss them weather they know it or not. My most meaningful place is my parents' house because it is a symbol of reliving my childhood, indulging in good times, and just plain feeling at home. Childhood is the time in life where personality traits are formed and memories haven't yet taken a sentimental feeling. Now that those times are gone, I remember running through the neighborhood with my friends and many other happy times where I knew I was having fun. The time my brother and I were playing hockey in my living room was fun. It was a friendly game, and we even had the cushions form the couch set up so nothing would get broken. Little did we know one stray puck would have us replacing drywall at 11:30 PM so our parents wouldn't see it, but, like everything else, we did it because it was enjoyment. My theory on life is, in order for something to be meaningful, you have to want it. I don't always want the irresponsible times of discovery that were my childhood back, but I do strive for the feelings I had toward life when I was there. Having a pleasant attitude all the time may not be possible this day in age, but I know it's a good feeling when you can...
