(b) Field of coverage.

The system must consist of enough light to illuminate the vital areas around the aeroplane considering the physical configuration and flight characteristics of the aeroplane.

The field of coverage must extend in each direction within at least 75’ above and 75” below the horizontal plane of the aeroplane, except that a solid angle or angles of obstructed visibility totalling not more than 0.03 steradians is allowable within a solid angle equal to 0.15 steradians centred about the longitudinal axis in the rearward direction.

(d)Colour.

Each anti-collision light must be either aviation red or aviation white and must meet the applicable requirements of JAR 25.1397

...The Collision It was a raining day of winter, 1999 when I was driving on a wet slippery road of i680 north going to toward work. The sides of the freeway were flooded and too many cars tend to be going the same direction as mine. It was heavy traffic and other driver’s frustration appeared; when they were swerving their cars left and right trying to make their way out of traffic. I had my radio on and the news was about a car accident on San Mateo Bridge, which already started my day off wrong from that moment. As I was counting down the miles toward my destination, driving my car on the carpool lane going 65 miles per hour which was the legal speed limit for the freeway. Cruising on the far left lane, driving a 2005 black Jeep Cherokee that had four large tires which made me higher and oversee the whole view of the freeway. The incident started when I took a quick glance over my right shoulder and saw a blue, shiny-rimmed Toyota Runner, suv spinning out of control. The car instantly took my attention; the car was at the very far right lane so at the moment I did not doubt that the driver was going to make his way towards me immediately. Because it was raining hard and the road was wet which made him to slide all the way to the far left lane. ...A Case against Red Light Cameras In recent years technology has played an increasingly vital role in the enforcement of traffic violations and motorist safety, but not all advancements have been welcomed by the driving public. Over the last decade many cities and states have begun using red light traffic cameras to catch and fine motorists in an effort to motivate the public to drive more safely. In theory it makes great sense, however when put into practice it has yielded mixed results at best. While the number of citations issued has gone up dramatically the number of accidents has not. In fact many intersections with red light cameras installed have seen an increase in accidents. Once the data is analyzed it is clear that there are far safer alternatives that will also save taxpayers a great deal of money over red light cameras. In which, Distributed Color Selection (DCS) and Colorwave algorithm have been developed, and simulated annealing (SA) technique have been applied. Some of them (we call them non-progresive algorithms), like DCS, require the user to pre-defined the number of time slots. While some of them (we call them progressive), like Colorwave, determine the number automatically. In this paper, a comparative analysis on both non-progressive and progressive algorithms to solve such a problem in a random RFID reader network is presented. By extensive simulations on a dense network consisting of 250 readers whose transmission rates are 100%, a number of useful results have been found. For those non-progressive type algorithms, it is found that DCS is unlikely to generate a collision-free solution, even the number of time slots is set to 20. On the other hand, heuristic and SAbased algorithms can produce collision-free solutions whenever the number of time slots is set to 16. For the cases when the number of time slots is not specified, heuristic-based, SAbased and Colorwave algorithms are all able to determine the number automatically and thus generate collision-free solution. Based on this input, which is the vehicle line length in a lane the traffic control algorithm implemented in our system takes the necessary decisions. This algorithm determines the lane that should be given the most priority and up to what amount of time. This feature allows maximum efficiency in controlling the flow of traffic. The pedestrian crossing system uses image processing technology to identify the number of waiting pedestrians. When this number reaches a defined value they are given the chance to cross the road. Else after a maximum time limit is exceeded and the required number has not yet gathered the remaining will be given a chance to navigate safely across the road.
