1. The history of Apple Inc. and its products a. Introduction i. Apple Inc. is a multinational corporation that produces computers, electronics, computer software and other commercial servers, along creations such as the iPhone, iPad, iPod, and Macintosh computers. Apple Inc. was founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak on April 1, 1976 as the company was created under the name of Apple Computer. The company was later incorporated on January 3, 1977, in Cupertino, California. ii. From the start for about two decades, Apple Computer only made personal computers such as the Apple two, Macintosh and Power Mac lines, however these models didn’t do so well in terms of sales. Steve Jobs was ousted from the company in which he started in 1985, but returned to Apple in 1996 and the following year became the company’s interim CEO. After his return, Jobs created the original iMac in 1998. iii. As the years went on Apple Inc. introduced the iPad music player in 2001 and then opened the iTunes Music Store in 2003. Apple had finally established itself as the frontrunner in the electronics and media sales industries, which is a big reason they dropped “Computer” from the company’s name in 2007. Apple is now also known for its iOS range of iPhone smartphone, iPad tablet computer products, and iPod Touch media player. As of 2012, Apple is the largest publicly traded corporation in the world by market capitalization. Apple has an estimated value of $626 billion as of September 2012, its market cap is larger than that of Google and Microsoft combined. Apples worldwide annual revenue in 2010 totaled $65 billion, growing to $127.8 billion in 2011 and $156 billion in 2012. b. Founding and Incorporation i. ...two main types: Internal – arising from within the company; and External – arising from extraneous factors such as industry size" (1). Apple, to this date, has done a great job applying economies of scale to its overall success. Apple, unlike other companies, does not have multiple brand new different phones or tablets coming out every single year. Generally when Apple has introduced a product in the line of smartphone, tablet, computer or music, it has generally been one device that showcases Apple and that is it. Other companies such as Nokia, Dell or Samsung will introduce multiple lines of phones or tablets when introducing a new product. Since Apple does not do this it is easier for them to streamline components and parts needed all for one item. Apple's devices share multiple components across the board. Many components that are used in the iPhone are used in the tablets and their music software from their mp3 players has been integrated into their tablets and phones. Due to this, Apple has been able to sell some of their products at a price that competitors cannot match such as the iPad that goes for $499 brand new. Multiple hardware parts are used such as the screens and cameras that are interchangeable between the devices. Due to this process, Apple is able to produce many products with the same components and parts. Apple can further take off with increasing its economies of scale. Any new products introduced can be even more closely designed to mimic......

...Does Technology Influence Teaching Practices in the Classroom? April O. Di Benedetto, Ph.D. Instructional Technology Center 2024 Livingston St. Mandeville, LA 70448 Paper presented at the National Educational Computing Conference 2005 Conference Philadelphia, PA June 29, 2005 INTRODUCTION The world is experiencing an information explosion of unprecedented proportions. Not only is the volume of new information large, but it is also growing exponentially. Rapid changes in many fields are making basic knowledge and skills obsolete. In the technological world of the 21st century, the meaning of the phrase ““to know““ means more than simply having information stored in one’’s memory; it means having access to information and knowing how to use it. The challenge for education is to design technologies for learning that draw both from knowledge about human cognition and from practical application of how technology can facilitate complex tasks in the workplace. ““Like training wheels,”” computers enable learners to do more advanced activities, and engage in more advanced thinking and problem-solving than they could without such help (Pea, 1985). In this rapidly transforming world, where employment requirements and fundamental literacy expectations are quickly changing, education must also change to meet these demands. The essence of education has been to transmit society’’s cultural heritage to successive generations and to foster competencies will......

.... Apple has had a history of having poor working conditions at many of the facilities used by its suppliers, such as Foxconn, with reports of unethical behavior such as underage workers, forced labor, and high visibility suicides. Although Apple audits its supplier facilities some suppliers have been reported to continue exhibiting poor conditions. These conditions include discriminatory practices, failure to protect juvenile workers, and excessive working hours. According to Lawrence and Weber (2014), Apple joined the Fair Labor Association, the first electronic company to do so, in which Apple requested and with the company’s financial support, the FLA immediately undertook the most extensive audit ever conducted of conditions in China’s electronics supply chain. After the audit, Apple issued a statement saying, “Our team has been working for years to educate workers, improve conditions and make Apple’s supply chain a model for the industry, which I why we asked the FLA to conduct these audits” and for its, Foxconn agreed to reduce overtime from 80 to 36 hours per month by July 2013, while raising wages to prevent workers from losing income, Apple also agreed to pay worker retroactively for unpaid overtime and to improve health and safety protections (Lawrence and Weber, 2014). When we only select the respondents that own an apple product the mean for the question if they find elegance important is 6,04 on a scale form 1 to 7. This implies that they value elegance as ‘important’. However, when we only select respondents that do not own a single apple product the mean remains almost the same with 6 on a scale from 1 to 7, meaning they find elegance ‘important’. Therefore, we cannot conclude that there is a difference in the way apple users and non-apple users perceive elegance. It must be noted that there are only 3 non-apple users in our survey. 4. ...| Apple Inc. | Project Paper | | By Mateo Puente | 4/15/2015 | | Apple is one of the largest manufacturers of personal electronic devices in the world. They began their rise to the top in the late 1970’s with two individuals, Steven Wozniak and Steven Jobs. They met in high school where they became good friends and kept in touch after graduation. After they both dropped out of college they began working for companies in Silicon Valley. While Jobs was working at Atari, Wozniak was at Hewlett-Packard. Wozniak had been dabbling in computer-design for some time when he came up with the design that would later become the Apple I. Jobs convinced Wozniak to try and sell his design and on April 1, 1976, Apple Computer was born. The company didn’t really take off until 1977 after the Apple II debuted at a local computer trade show. From there the company grew, by 1980 Apple had thousands of employees and started selling computers internationally. While the company grew so did sales. So Apple took on new investors, older more conservative men, who opted to take seats on the board of directors. These new directors were serious about making Apple a “real company”. As the company gained steam the market became saturated and it became more difficult to sell computers. While the company began to struggle, Jobs had become unhappy with John Sculley CEO of Apple. In 1985 Jobs was at his wits and resigned from Apple, only to go back in 1996 when his company NeXT was......
